100% of US military aid to Israel has to be spent on US military equipment, so the US defense industry benefits greatly from it. Furthermore, a lot of joint R&D between the US and Israel is done because of this aid, and that saves the US money as well as improving the quality of US defense products.

The military aid to Israel also saves the US lots of money in another area- intelligence gathered by Israel is shared with the US instead of the US having to do it themselves, including risky human intelligence that the US is often not particularly good at.

The occupying state of Israel is basically a welfare state. But it's an unnecessary one these days, as most of the Arabs are more useful.

Military welfare and aid is given more for the kickbacks, than anything else.

I look at it as a sort of necessary evil. Israel is doing shitty stuff and I'd rather not give them any money, but they do provide stability and technology and information.
