Anyways, a jacket potato is a potato that's cooked whole in its skin in an oven or campfire until the skin is crispy and the inside fluffy. They're best in the oven but take ages, so those without shame microwave them, but the skin isn't as nice. They're popular all year round but most often around Halloween/bonfire night.
They're then split and filled with stuff such as butter, cheese, beans, chilli, tuna, curry, or anything you fancy, which usually means whatever in the cupboard.

I love jacket potatoes 😋
In the US they’re usually called baked potatoes, and they’re definitely a thing. I’ve had them in diners loaded with sour cream, chives, bacon and cheese, very American style.
Your Halloween / bonfire night version reminds me of campfire potatoes I ate in Italy, split open and filled with gorgonzola and speck. Absolute comfort food.
