It is not likely that Russia and China will allow Iran to fall to an invasion by the USA, because, if they do, Russia will be next. After Russia falls, the USA will have control of the oil from the Mid-East and Russia. Without oil from Russia and/or the Mid-East China's economy will collapse and they will be defeated by the USA. Already, China has suggested giving Iran nukes if Israel uses nukes against Iran. That is a strong indication that China will not allow the defeat of Iran by the USA. If the USA does not directly attack Iran, most likely Iran will win the war against Israel.

Iran had no option other than to retaliate, which was legal under UN rules.

Also China and Russia both make deals with Iran and isreal so no matter who wins they can still make deals. Therefore no reason to protect ethier.

Frankly it is in the greater interest for both Russia and China to effect a regime change themselves in Iran. Iran muddies commerce waters for both. The only reason it doesn’t because it recognized the thorn it presents to the United States. It is a U. S. thorn the same way Ukraine is for Russia and Taiwan is for China. Granted, to a significantly lessor degree for China. Even if the United States were to advance upon Iran, I really do not see Russia getting involved beyond the support it already provides. Same with China. As for the Taiwan question I saw noted, United States Naval presence there remains enough of a force deterrent in the region for China not to attempt such an action. U. S. global dominance is significantly more robust than most Americans even realize. Even logistically for a protracted conflict on a global scale the United States reach out paces the next several nations collectively in might and sustainability. It is why China tries using digital assault upon the West versus their military element.
