Are Children A Distraction From This Dystopian World?

i like my job at college, but i get an earful everyday. everyday they tell me how stupid, careless and incompetent i am. that's life Right? lol.

sister in law of my colleague is expecting a baby. she was smiling all day. i asked her why people procreate and she said so they can "have a happy home" and i am like "so you want distraction from environmental degradation and toxic economy ran by capitalist psychos?" and then she went to get her files or whatever. she won't answer, she's too cool for it, so i wanna ask you guys instead

i personally will never go to a workplace where i feel dastardly about myself just to get bare minimum AND GIVE THAT MONEY TO OTHER PEOPLE BC FAMILY IS IMPORTANT... like im being so fr... i get so tired, my esteem needs are crushed, I COULD NEVER DO IT, IT'S FRIGGIN UNTHINKABLE

You are in a very competitive line of work where it's often considered a failure if you don't make partner. Despite the fact that one can probably work at a law firm and remain an associate forever. I mean. how can everyone make partner and once they take away the annual bonus that usually goes with that, it remains a well-paying occupation.

At least that is what it appears like to a non-attorney. I'm not sure if that's true and I guess enough people go on to start their own firms with perhaps a more modest income but, from what I've heard, unless you are willing to bill huge amounts og hours, partnerships aren't available. So if I go to law school and balk at working 60+ hours a week what would my responsibilities be after 2 decades?

Sounds about right... normal humans for whatever reason see kids as innocent therefore have them due to that. Though kids aren't they're evil a lot of times and grow up to be a boring mundane adult at best.

I would hope that we have not yet arrived in a dystopian world. A chaotic and uncertain world, perhaps. And the deliberate decision to have children should be made independently from that. 🤔
