If one hour of having a drag queen read to your kids can have that dramatic an impact on them, then the thousands of hours you've spent raising them seems like it amounted to nothing and you must be a pretty shitty parent.

That said, parents should get involved and taise hell at their school boards where possible, and seek out better private or home school options where not.
