It’s always sad when somebody dies. I don’t think he was a good person, and I’d even venture to say that America is better off without his influence. He was poisoning a lot of young minds, in my opinion.

BUT, I’d much rather he be alive to be a father to his child while either continuing to say things I disagreed with, or ideally, finding his humanity, and stop being a person who pushes hate and bigotry, and primitive ways of life that are disrespectful and harmful to women.

I won’t miss his message one bit, as conservatism is a very hateful ideology, but I don’t condone political violence towards anybody, friend or foe.

I think there’s a greater conversation to be had, though, about this crazy shift of what’s acceptable, which you’re just too young to know the difference between then and now, really (not trying to big-time you, just like literally according to chronological timelines, haha).

People talking the way people are talking these days used to be rightly societally frowned upon. You were free to say it all day, but you’d be viewed as a piece of shit. But now it seems like people are essentially saying “Yeah, I’m a piece of shit…. and what?🤷‍♂️” They’re proud of it, they don’t care that they’re selfish, that they’re bigoted in some way…. all these things that I know that I was taught in the prehistoric era of the 1980s as a very young child were just “above all else, don’t be those things.”

To see people proud and comfortable and arrogant in those stances, relishing the disdain and calling the decent people rightly shocked by them “soft”…. i just have to kind of throw my hands up. How do you reason with people being knowingly and gleefully bad? You’re supposed to feel shame when called out…but there’s no shame, and they see that lack of shame as a badge of courage. I truly don’t know how to counter that. A person self-standard for human decency was what kept us all honest. Without that…. here we are🤷‍♂️

It’s all covered under free speech for sure, but it used to just be random assholes here and there. It was never meant to be considered as a reasonable way of thinking and perceiving the world for large swaths of people. More than anything political, I’m just shocked to see so many people all of a sudden being like “fuck other people, me first!!! Oh, shoot, I gotta run, I’m late for church!” Honestly just shocking to me what Americans have become, as someone who’s been observing Americans consciously for four decades. Truly shocked, I can’t say it enough times.

All speech being free doesn’t mean that all speech is objectively valid or considerable. It’s free speech to say that Earth is shaped like a corkscrew, that doesn’t mean it’s not ridiculous and completely invalid, per well-established science.

Likewise, it’s free speech to talk all kinds of shit about all kinds of people under the guise of “hard truths”, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good thing or even correct factually.

And then furthermore (almost done, sorry😂), at what point is free speech becoming harmful rhetoric? Maybe not harmful like someone being killed or even physically harmed, but the much more common harm of just creating a social climate where some people face a hard time for no good reason (in reality, not in the bully’s estimation) and it’s just accepted. Like you and I both know the first person to throw a punch from verbal provocation isn’t necessarily in the wrong. I mean, we can have grown-up tak as adults and say the whole “it doesn’t matter what they do, you NEVER resort to violence!” standard is kinda bullshit. Everyone has their threshold, and that’s not wrong. The degree of violence, that’s something else. But someone just outright testing you, and you’re expected to keep your hands in your pockets? Come on, man🙄 We know that’s not how humans work.

Anyway, it’s like 4 AM and I’m fighting passing out, but the point is that all speech is free but not necessarily valid, extremely harmful speech can still be “free speech”….”free speech” doesn’t mean “anything goes and all opinions are valid and equally weighted, and you’re guaranteed to not suffer any consequences.” It was literally just originated in “Unlike England and King George, you’re free to disparage politics leadership without fear of governmental punishment or retribution.” It can still get you punched in the face or fired from your job or kicked out of a store.

Have not really looked too far into it, but a 30-06 only drops about 3" at 200 yards (depending on the ammo, rifle, etc). The shot placement makes me think it was an amateur. A pro would have hit the head or the heart at that close of a distance, even with that crappy rifle setup- Unless it was made to look like an amateur. Still, a neck shot is a risky shot. He was probably aiming for the head and the bullet dropped. Probably only practiced at 100 yards where there is no bullet drop to account for with a 30-06. First of all, his name is Charlie Kirk. As for his death, I'm horrified and actually angry. I didn't like his policies, but we were friends on Facebook when we were both in high school and I saw him change from an idealistic highschooler to a major player with TP USA (which he started in high school). While I was not a fan of who he became and probably would have gladly gotten in a long debate with him, nothing mitigates or excuses his shooting. Nothing mitigates or excuses the two attempts on Trump's life.
