This US President was before my time but why is Jimmy Carter viewed as a horrible President?, why do many people consider him one of the worst?

Jimmy Carter's presidency was before my time but I often hear lots of people talking negatively about him how he was a horrible and weak president. Why and how so?

Carter was openly opposed to consumerism. Which means he was diametrically opposed to capitalism as it is practiced in the west. Frankly, he’s fortunate to have not been assassinated.
Therefore, both the left and the right hate him for everything he stood for as a representative of the US voters.

He was a man of Christian conviction, and the New Left of the 1970s, a movement based on materialism and a hatred for the West, couldn't use him. They had to fight him, so they made him their enemy, and now he's viewed as a failure because his worldview was the opposite of theirs.

Richard Nixon was before my time too. He said Jimmy Carter was a decent person (referring to his personality) but an ineffective as a president.

He was a truly decent man. Republicans, the people who are letting Trump make billions off crypto and other scams, insisted he sell his family peanut farm before becoming president. He did.

He married and stayed faithful to his high school sweetheart.

He had a terrible situation in the middle east to deal with and bad luck with a military raid to free hostages. Far ahead of his time, he had solar panels put on the roof of the White House.

After his presidency, he built homes for people, he was an active force for good around the world.

This "president" wants to make money "redeveloping" Gaza as a resort built on the bones of murdered children.

Jimmy Carter was a very decent man but he was an ineffective president. He was not entirely responsible for it. He inherited a bad economy and during his term there was a gas shortage that touched off double digit inflation. It was during his watch that the attempt to free the hostages in Iran was botched. This gave his administration a black eye. He also had a few shady characters that worked for him as well as a brother who was an embarassment.

And of course this will always be debated there has been controversy about this for decades now lots of people have mixed feelings on this and that is lots of people think Reagan or just people that worked in Reagan's campaign in the 1980 election, that they made a deal and negotiated with Iran to delay the release of the hostages so that way it would make it look like Reagan gets all the credit for securing their release and most importantly make Carter's image weaker.

Overall they knew that as long as the hostages remained captive then Carter's approval rating would continue to decline even further.

After all since the hostages were released on Reagan's inauguration day.

Of course there are people who disagree with that allegation and their perspective is that the reason why the hostages were released on that specific time manner is because the Iranians hated and despised Carter so much so they released the hostages and that time manner because it was their way of saying good riddance to Carter and they wanted to embarrass him one last time.

They always called him the peanut farmer, I think it was a Democrat from what I remember and that during his time the interest rates on houses was crazy high he wasn’t really that good of a president but he was more of a peaceful type. I think you got a Nobel peace prize

Yes, he was a decent man and arguably one of the smartest Presidents. He was a nuclear scientist as well as a peanut farmer. It was good that when Joe Biden was elected he got to see a president that was worse than he was
