How do you convince someone their world is real and not an illusion?

You can't. There is no test that I know of which would prove conclusively that our world is not some kind of illusion or simulation. Ironically you could in theory prove that you live in a simulation if you for example find a flaw that could not exist in reality but you could never to the opposite and prove reality. So until we find evidence that proves we live in a simulation we can't know for certain which one we live in.

On the bright side, does it really matter? If we happen to live in an illusion or simulation but you can't tell the difference then quite frankly there is a good argument for it being "real enough" to not worry about.

I guess you’re right about it not mattering. So you’re saying I need to pretend it’s real in order to function “normally”? No one’s normal truly.

While philosophizing on the question of living in a simulation or not is interesting in its own right, chances are you will probably live a more interesting and happy life if you just accept that you dont know and drop it.

Perhaps the answer will come to you one day like for example if you find a glitch in the "matrix" but until then I honestly dont know a single thing anyone of us could do to get to the bottom of this. If you dont personally enjoy thinking about these impossible questions then just dont bother with them.

You’re right in some ways, but to an extent the belief of a false reality is very restrictive. I mean it doesn’t let you fully enjoy things because it’s always in the back of my mind saying “it’s not real.”
