The best was Lincoln. The worst has been Trump.

The worst has been Trump. He led an attack on the Capitol when he lost the election at the end of his first term which caused serious injuries to many people and death to some, then pardoned all those who were guilty of following him and injuring so many (many of those he pardoned were later arrested for more crimes they committed after being released) and during his second term he has fired all the officials who followed our laws and constitution to replace them with morons whose only "qualifications" are that they will also ignore the laws and approve of everything he does, which usually means breaking laws and ignoring our Constitution has been evolved over the growth of our nation.

Wartime presidents like Lincoln and FDR need to be viewed in a different light than peacetime presidents. Also, what makes a president good or bad? Nixon could be seen as bad, but he opened up China as a trading partner, and that was a pretty big benefit. So, there's good that most presidents did, but usually we don't know about the full effect of them until years later. The purchase of Alaska from Russia was seen as a waste at the time. At the end of his presidency, a history of Thomas Jefferson was written that had little to no mention of the Louisiana Purchase. So, it's hard to say unless we disqualify any president since 2015 at the latest. That gives us enough time to see the effects of their actions. I could say Trump has been the worst, and Biden has been the best, but we haven't seen the long-term effects of their actions yet.

The best: Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Carter, Obama. Worst: As per Wikipedia, and I agree, with the addition of Reagan:

I forgot to add Biden to the best list. I think by far he is one of America's best presidents.

@Twalli My mind was made up after Trump's first presidency that he was a horrible leader. I think Biden did a lot of good for the country, starting with the economy after covid.

What matters is the current state the U. S. are in.

A ''President'' will not change the 'status' --- it's the ''Americans'' that make ''America''.

The worst one was Biden, easily. Carter and Wilson close behind.
The best is more difficult. I've heard great things about Andrew Jackson. He got us away from a central bank for a few decades until Wilson betrayed his country and got us into the Fed. Jackson also beat up a man who tried to assassinate him. Reagan and Trump have been excellent also.
