Why did DJT get re-elected in 2024 yet not re-elected in 2020 if he has so many supporters who voted for him in 2024?

It just doesn't compute to my non American brain, why voters either swing vote, or why DJT was a one term president, then Biden got in (swing voters or more democrats, whatever) and then now DJT is in for a second term.

I don't understand the logic of the American voter and the sub category of American swinging voter? Like - I just don't get the craziness of *why even swing vote* versus consistency voting for the same party election after elections.

The democrats threw away the 2024 POTUS election by leaning into increasingly radical rhetoric and behavior, and installing their nominee instead of electing her. All the while declaring that the republicans are a threat to democracy.
They’re going to keep throwing elections away too, because they’re doubling down on their radical nonsense.
If they would dial down their crazy a bit and prop up GOOD candidates instead of just telling everyone that doesn’t vote for their cult leaders that they’re racist, sexist, homophobic, and whatever other nonsensical pejoratives they throw around, they’d have a reasonable chance at getting some control back.
“TDS” started out as a goof, but a lot of people who identify as democrats really have completely lost their minds. Even classic liberals are distancing themselves from these lunatics, and long time democrats are switching parties. That includes Drumpf! If your memory goes back more than twelve years, it’s easy to remember when he was a huge supporter of democrats and close friends with the Clintons. If you can’t remember that far back, you can do a few cursory searches of the internet for terabytes of proof that the mainstream media loved DJT and wanted him to run for president. They only decided he was the enemy because he ran as a republican. Which he only did because he saw the writing on the wall of the democrat party and platform. Most of his policies and practices are quite moderate, even liberal, and reflect the fact that his values didn’t change. The democrats’ values changed, to extremism. Of course reasonable people are walking away from that.
