Does it seem like people are becoming more assholes these days?

Every time I go out in public lately , shopping or grabbing a bite to eat etc. , I notice people seem to be more rude and disrespectful to each other , I understand our economy is pure shit right now , and people are struggling to get by , but that’s still no reason to be a complete asshole to other people. Part of me feels like there is going to be another Civil war if things don’t start getting better soon. Do you experience this as well?

I really don't go out very much like you do, so I am not exposed to assholism as much as you are. But I can still feel it somehow.
My personal opinion is that many people have fallen away from God. They are just doing their own thing and don't have the fear of God in them like they did up until the last few years or so. Satan is having his way with people more than ever. Sinning doesn't seem to even bother a lot of people anymore.
There's more uncertainty about people's lives right now and what's going to happen to them financially in their future. Like that song says "Under Pressure."
I remember Dr. Phil saying that 40% of Americans are stoned on something every day in America and this was a few years ago, so it's probably more now.
The way I look at people who are stoned on something is that they are chemicalized people and not truly who they would be if they were straight. Drinking alcohol 🍺 🍷 is also known as liquid courage. So, when you're around chemicalized people they become uninhibited and say and do things to people without any empathy or real emotions. So, whatever comes out of their mouth or the way they treat people in general - if they had any goodness in their heart - that's all gone out the window for a lot of people. Aka, your arseholes!!

I have noticed that as well, even here in Asia. I frequently see an elderly having difficulty crossing the road. Those motorcycle riders have super fast speeds even on a pedestrian lane. Also here in the internet, being anonymous doesn't mean they can hurt someone's feelings by being mean.

I hope being heartless doesn't become the norm, problems shouldn't be an excuse that one can be a bad person. All of us have our own struggles and battles we're facing.

Nope we already were.
Just before a lot more of them were sent to Vietnam or Afghan to kill people over there instead of staying here to be an asshole. Or if you go even further back to do the crusades.
People with issues used to have more war they could be sent to but signing your kid up to military has fallen out of favor in recent history.
