Sometimes people are afraid of being themselves because being real feels risky.

When you show who you are, you also give people the power to reject it.

It’s easier to wear a version of yourself that feels “safer.”

Less judgment.

Less vulnerability.

Less chance of being misunderstood.

But the downside?
You end up hiding the very parts of you that could attract the right people, the right friendships, the right life.

Fear of being yourself usually isn’t about identity.

It’s about protection.

And unlearning that takes time and a few people who make you feel safe enough to show the real thing.
