What is with these car insurance companies, why is staff so rude?

I'm trying to cancel and it's such a problem. I sent them an email with proof of new insurance, I don't know if the email is still active cause they don't respond, so I call to ask if they got it. "SoRrY wErE cLoSeD, cAlL bAcK Monday!" Whenever I call these idiots I get attitude.
What is with these car insurance companies, why is staff so rude?
