Anyone else notice TSA/Airport staff are kind of rude & unfriendly?

I’ve noticed that no matter how friendly I am they are really unfriendly individuals. Why is that?

I was wearing a mask and asked a guy where a gate was. He responds “why are talking so low”. 😐 he never answered my question he just pointed.

Like cops... my friend asked one for a lighter and I thought the cop was going to punch him. He's from the Philippines and I guess he doesn't know. Now, on the flip side, you do training that teaches you everybody is an extreme threat. These people are people that you're trying to herd like cattle to get them out of the way. Plus it's a job... who really enjoys being there when they don't? You asking him a damn question, even if you're really nice or a 10 out of 10, is nothing more than some bullshit he has to deal with and get out of the way.

The TSA never should have been a thing. I mean, the very reason they became one wasn't even because someone brought a bomb on a plane. It's because a terrorist group (not even from the US) got a hold of the controls and flew several planes into important buildings.

Why should the average citizen be punished for that?

Now these guards are nothing but glorified obstacles that randomly choose people to grope as they pass by, continuing to waste their time and for reasons that no sane person would ever entertain. No one likes these guys for reasons I can't blame them for so I can understand why a lot of them are in a bad mood.

It doesn't excuse the behavior but it's an explanation.

They are overworked and understaffed. They don't have time to make you feel good. I do not find their business like way of doing things to be rude, and they are not there to be friendly.

Imagine you had to tap around the crotches of countless strangers all day! You would be grumpy, too. It’s just one of those jobs that mostly people do that have no alternative.

So because they dislike their job gives them a pass to treat actual polite people like crap.

Probably not a pass, but if you complain to their superiors, you will only get another grumpy person, just with one yellow stripe more on its arm. 😬🤬

TSA is a thankless job, having to deal with rude passengers all day long, at close to minimum wage. Most of us would be kind if rude in that job.

Honestly, I think it depends what airport. The ones in California are usually pretty chill.
