US suspends green card lottery scheme after Brown shooting. What do you think?

President Donald Trump has suspended the US green card lottery scheme in the wake of a mass shooting at Brown University last week in which two people were killed.

No one will be able to win that lottery anymore. It is a hope killer for a lot of people around the world.

That lottery is highly questionable in the first place. It's just that, a lottery. It has an expensive buy-in. People who can least afford it are spending money they don't have for a tiny chance of winning. And even if they win, they still need to be vetted.

Maybe that's a good thing. Gambling and losing is something they can't afford, considering the odds. That lottery is not to help those people. It's so a few people can pat themselves on the back.

GOOD. People need to be admitted for actual reasons. and NO, doopy dupie dupes, "diversity" is NOT a strength per se or necessarily.

Skill sets ideally, although heck, political asylum, former allies seeking refuge, family (re) unifications, could count on a case by case basis

Even meeting one's love from another land could count. Heck, the President himself did that!

The visa lottery has been abused and President trump wants a study made to determine if it is in America's best interest to continue it.

This is the first i have heard of this scheme. This was a dumb idea to begin with. Why suspend it, get rid of it entirely.
