Trump said this because he is seriously considering trying to cancel the election or impeding it to the extent that the results don't matter. Trump is afraid of this election because he has a good sense that the Republican party will lose badly. I don't know if he's aware that this is because of his own behavior and activities over the last several months, but it is.

I think we can depend on Trump trying to cancel the election and certainly suppressing the vote as much as possible because he is quite worried that if the Democrats take the house and the Senate he will be impeached and convicted. Quite honestly. If that were to happen I would be greatly relieved as would most people I know. The man is a mentally ill criminal and he has absolutely no business being in charge of anything much less the entire country. Because of his activities we are literally on the verge of a civil war at this point.

For reference germany took 5 years to get rid of elections for 11 years. Yes the 1936 and 1938 werent real elections at all but technically they existed.

Exactly. The whole "they're not Nazis until they're gassing people" is a crock. It took years to get to that point, and most civilians didn't know (for sure) about it. They were quite content to see Jewish businesses being taken over though.
