Did Trump just catch His opponents with their guard down?

So... I visit my local Polish news portal and I find out that Trump intends to launch investment accounts for children born between 2025 and 2028 on July 5th, 2026 under the name "Trump Accounts". Apparently, He also intends to put $1000 from the the Department of Treasury on each new account. Now, opinions may very on the reasonability of money transfers from the Department of Treasury into these kinds of accounts, but it will be a one-time occurence, and private businesses will be able to put some money on the accounts of their employees' children as well, with a limit of $2500 per year compared to the one-time boost of $1000 from the government. Also, the parents themselves will be able to put additional $5000 per year on their own children's accounts. Intrigued, I took to the official US government sources and they supported some of those claims:

So... Did President Donald Trump catch His Democrat opponents off-guard, providing actual aid to people they only talk about supporting? Will He lose any conservative supporters in turn? Does He read GaG or watch Shoe0nHead and plans for MAGA to introduce Her into politics?

This move does sound like something Shoe0nHead would approve of, while also not being overly socialist, given these accounts are supposed to be investment accounts and will therefore provide no significant aid to people with no drive to improve their own lives. Please tell me Your opinions in the comments.

I think these accounts are an awesome idea. The only thing I would change is that I would stipulate the kids can't touch the money until they're 21. I don't want to see some 12-year-old kid cash in and buy video games. I want them to wait and then buy a house.

18 years is plenty, but I'm not sure it's ironclad. I think it's more of a recommendation than a rule. My cousin came up with a unique Christmas present idea. He gave the kids a sealed wooden box with an undisclosed amount of cash inside. (This sounds like the TV show "let's Make a deal")
The kids were told they could cut the box open and get their bounty, or wait until next Christmas and he would double the amount. And he would them keep doubling it every Christmas as long as they could hold out. Some kids cashed out early and some didn't. The kids that are holding out are going to end up with some fat stacks. LOL

I mean It'd be better if his DOJ dismantled the government programs that are full of fraud and theft and lowered taxes. And with major corporations jumping on the bandwagon, it sounds fishy.

@mike_hum Well, this kind of idea needs either a government funding or corporations to back it up. I suppose Trump is making this a hybrid version, with a touch of government funding and an opportunity for private businesses to take part in it. It kind of provides a humanity test for the corporations - those who do not join will out themselves as not caring about their potential future workers and customers, while the ones that do join will show a somewhat human face of theirs.

I agree about the dismantling of fraudulent government programs, but the intention for now might be to draw the sanest of leftists in. They would like a mostly well-planned subsidy for "the little guy", and that's what "Trump Accounts" are supposed to be. If MAGA gets these sanest leftists onboard, it might start cracking down on the fraudulent government programs as the sanest leftists will actually apply to take part in it - they do believe that money should be spent by the government, but in a wise manner - Shoe0nHead actually called out the USAID (S) for being fraudulent as Elon's DOGE started dismantling it.

It's still using my tax dollars to subsidize corporations. The banks are jumping in because they have guaranteed customers. They manage the accounts and take their slice off the top.

@mike_hum I couldn't find anything about subsidizing corporations through this program. Except the banks (not sure if they count as corporations, though), since it is kind of obvious they will make profit off this money. It will still belong to the children (and be managed by their parents). If You know anything about subsidies to corporations related to this program, please bring this data up. It would be a glaring issue - though not one the Democrats would ever bring up against Trump.

Also, I agree that a $1000 tax rebate for the parents to invest for their children's future would be better as an idea, but it would not prompt US companies to pool their own money into this purpose. This program does split the companies into those that take part in it and those that look bad. It might be an added kind of a bonus to try and outweigh the socialist aspect of this policy. There will be two kinds of companies in the USA once the program launches - the "patriotic" ones and the "evil" ones. Unless it is used to improve the image of some "black companies", I don't think it is a decisively bad idea.

The most important question is whether You (and other conservative voters) stop voting for MAGA because of this program. If You don't stop voting for MAGA, it might become a net positive, since a few of the sanest leftists will likely be swayed by it.

Banks absolutely are corporations. Banks make money by holding your money (in this case the $1000 investment accounts) using it to make loans, they get 8% interest and give you 3%.

It won't make me stop voting for the best candidate, but this isn't small government.

@mike_hum It's hard to debate facts... This could be a 1000 USDT on a personal cryptocurrency wallet, with no benefits for the banks. I don't think the US government is this much into cryptocurrency, though, no matter how "modern" they want to appear.

As a conservatist, I have my doubts about putting the money of the Department of Treasury into these accounts, but given the extent of the IRS robbing US citizens blind, I can turn a blind eye to this mildly socialist act. What will they find? No clue, really. Maybe some leftist can enlighten me on this one... I wish we had a MAGA -like (so, an UPZW) government in Poland. Maybe it will come aftee the next elections...

Something given has no value compared to something earned. That’s the entire problem with every entitlement program, which this absolutely is. Those people will cash in on those accounts like it’s Christmas and they won’t learn a damn thing about “compound interest”. Just “the gubment gives away free money!”

@ariesman81 In Poland? Big fat nothing. Oh, maybe some drugs to keep me alive, but very much not healthy. Oh, sorry, technically I get free education - but that's for my parents' money, not mine. As a man, I also get almost universal loathing from women. That might be why I don't see Trump's project in a bad light. An investment account and $1000 initial funds sounds positively crazy compared to what I am used to. Still socialist, but almost acceptable. A tax rebate would a better option for me, but it would not encourage the sanest leftists to leave the Democrat left cesspool - I am willing to pay this price for saving some more mostly innocent souls.
