Why is resisting an illegal arrest a crime?

It’s total BS. Why should police have more rights? Then when it’s taken to court and they say the arrest was illegal but the garbage resist arrest charge stands 🤬? Total bullshit. The thing is winning a lawsuit never fixes the problem. Then they say comply or die. Well life’s nothing without freedom. No matter what path others take, I follow Patrick Henry’s quote (Give me liberty or give me death). I’d rather die fighting for freedom than live with tyranny.

Because you could easily just go with them, call your lawyer, prove your innocence and be let out the same day.

By making the arrest "difficult" you add charges that would otherwise not hold up.

You don't have "liberty" if you don't know jack shit about the laws. Freedom only exists within laws, otherwise you're just an outlaw resisting arrest.

Any lawyer will tell you not to argue with a police officer. Do whatever they tell you and take your case to court, where a judge will decide if the arrest is legal or not.

By resisting, you are committing a crime, and that's why the charge stays on your record.

Your reasoning is flawed. If you aren’t guilty of a crime, why resist? More often than not the system squares itself. You’re literally suggesting that not being guilty of one crime entitles you to commit other crimes. Nonsense.

Because your basically assaulting an officer by resisting. Comply with the arrest and determine if its illegal later. I've been arrested twice wrongfully and been given speecing tickets, it was no big deal. But what I didn't do was turn a minor thing into a 10 year jail sentence by refusing to comply.

The LEOs work with the papers, data or situation that they have. They can't possibly determine a potential illegality of an arrest right then and there, they have to do a job. And it's called police procedures for a reason. A judge or full court will later determine it.

It is not up to the cops to determine if an arrest is illegal or not. When the cops put you under arrest and you resist it is a charge that gets tacked on to the original charge.
