Why would a stranger pay for my drive-thru meal and just drive off?

Why do people do that? I pulled up and the drive through lady was like your meal was paid for. I was like huh? The girl in front of you paid for your meal. Oh... thanks. you would think I would do that one day, but im too selfish I guess lol I get the whole giving thing, but I mean they just drive off before you even can say thank you. Last time this happened I was digging through my change to get rid of it and I pull up and they tell me the person in front paid for your order. I guess they think I'm broke lol

Sometimes people do that kind of thing. The idea is that they pay for your meal, and you pay for the meal of the person behind you, and so on. It used to be in San Francisco when you crossed the Golden Gate Bridge, You paid for yourself and you paid for the car behind you, and then the car behind you would pay for the car behind it, and so on. Sometimes that would go on for days. It was kind of fun and interesting, and a way to interact with others without really interacting with them directly. When I lived in San Francisco, I would do it every time I crossed that bridge.

You would think so, but I actually knew a few of those folks and they liked it and thought it was fun. It was a way of being a member of the group without really being a member of the group if that makes any sense.

I went ahead and tipped the waitress cause I didn't know if he paid for the tip too. Pretty sure she got tipped twice, but thats okay lol
