Is the law important to you, and if so, why?

I ask the question because so many people seem to treat the law as a suggestion rather than as mandatory right now. I want to point out that, as far as I'm concerned, our laws are mandatory and there for a very good reason.

Law are nessary but the larger question and understanding of power dynamics is how they are used. In the same way a stronger person can help build something by being stronger and how they can also equally break down and destroy something.

Big thing with me is jury of peers. You got to get 12 peers to see all the evidence and say they can't have this. You don't have 12 people of peers of the defendant the state needs to make a stronger case against them hence the retrial.

People always fell they are powerless against the government but jury duty is where rubber meets the road where all the power is given to everyday people and we see this a meaningless choir.

Laws are important for a society to function. But legislators can be absolute morons. So we get some pretty stupid laws on the books. In Massachusetts you can legally shoot an Indian (Native American) on your way to church on Sunday. Not sure who thought that was important enough to codify in law.

There are plenty of other outdated or poorly written laws that are nonsensical. There are unethical and unjust laws put there due to bribes of public officials by lobbyists working for the corporations and billionaires. And we treat white collar crime like a joke while some Black kid with a 1/4 ounce of pot gets 10 years in jail.

Do I agree with having laws and a legal system to arbitrate disputes? Yes. Do I agree with and respect every piece of legislation? No. There are too many instances of laws that legalize voter intimidation, voter suppression, unfair sentencing, protection for bad cops, and wealthy people being being unaccountable for their crimes.

We are a nation of laws. If people only obey the ones that are not inconvenient to them it will lead to anarchy.

Over 20 Jan 6 people who were pardoned by Trump have been convicted of sex crimes, including sexual assault of children, and many are suing the government because they bruised their knuckles hitting the police trying to protect the Capitol. Is that the kind of anarchy you're talking about?

@goaded When did these people find time to do sexual assaults, child pornography, DUI, domestic violence or drug trafficking? They were either trespassing in a public building or they were standing across the street protesting a stolen election. These charges were total BS and the only person that was bused was an Air Force veteran who was murdered by a US Capitol security guard who has not been charged , yet.

A lot of laws are dumb and made by elites, a lot of laws are never voted on to actually exist.
Therefore no many aren't important to me. Many are arbitrary nonsense. Only important ones are the obvious ones like Murder, but even then killing a rapist is not a crime to me yet it would be in the eyes of the law in many cases.

Rape doesn't normally get the death penalty unless somebody, like you, takes the law into his own hands, which, by the way, is also illegal. You don't get to go out and play private cop and shoot people just because you feel like it or you think they did something wrong.

Everyone lives by laws even those that claim anarchy. Either we agree as a society or we create our own personal boundaries, expectations, and standards that we want others to follow
