At which age do you consider to be old by today’s standards?

Hearing older people say they don’t feel old yet is inspiring.


And honestly the older I get the more I realize how much age is an illusion.


Every few years the bar for being old feels like it’s pushed back for me.
Now I know there won’t be a day when I will wake up and say I’m old


And I’m 28, some consider that very young.
Recently I met some new hires at work who were 23 and they looked at me like I’m “old”


They were terrified of reaching my age basically.
I told them I was 23 barely 5 years ago.
That we will likely run into each other in the same retirement home in 60 years.
They couldn’t picture it.


That’s when I understood that the perception of aging is relative to how old you are at the moment
The older you get the wider it becomes.
A 10 year old is both eager and terrified of turning 16. That’s just 6 years of his life.
A 30 year old knows that 36 won’t change him all that much, the wheels of aging turn slowly if you keep yourself healthy.

Late 80's, mid 90's. But, it also depends on how well-kept the person is. How active they are. Dad was 81 when cancer took him. Up until 3 months before he died, after his morning coffee, he'd walk about 20 miles up river and buy lunch then take the bus back, or vice versa. When he died, people at the funeral asked how old he was. When I told them he was 81, they were shocked and said, they couldn't believe he was even 61!!
His older brother, Wally, was in the hospital at 93 for a routine check up on his pace maker. Mom went to see him and he sang her Italian operas in full voice!!
Their mom was still driving down to Florida by herself every winter when she was 94!! I'd guess that about an 18-hour drive.
Aunt Anna died weeks before her 100th B-day and if she and I went for a walk, I couldn't even keep up with her and I'm nearly half her age and twice as tall as her and used to walking fast!!

Used to be 20 but now its been pushed back to 35

I never thought I'd be running marathons at 49 but here I am. I'll have completed 2 this year. Old is just a number. It's all relative. When your 13 - 24 seems old. If you take care of yourself you can achive a lot and you will bounce back from injury much faster.

I really admire your optimism. Very few people have it, including me. If I may ask, where do you get your motivation from?

If you set and achieve goals for yourself you know you are capable of great things. Set goals that are milestones - things that are reasonable. Achieve one and it will give you fuel for the next.

Also, having an unhealthy dose of trying to prove yourself to the world syndrome helps!! Lol

I think age is a feeling. I didn't start feeling old till I passed the 45 mark. A couple years. Before that I was still running full court basketball games and dunking. Then I broke both my feet (with other health problems to follow). I haven't been the same since. But I don't lay down, and I don't give up. But it's the first time in my life I felt I wasn't able to will myself past something no matter how much I wanted to. I'll admit that has affected me. It's shaken my confidence a tad. But what do you do? You get up and start building again. Take it back one small piece at a time. So am I old? I was old about 5 years. ago. Now I consider myself 50 and getting younger again.👍💯

P. s. I do think some things happen for a reason. At some age, you need to realize you shouldn't be dunking a basketball. It's still 2 points whether you dunk it or lay it up. And it isn't worth the injury.

I used To believe rabbis age 60 is old. But really middle age is already "over the hill" so 40, when everything starts going downhill. I have been old a whole decade!

I believe its not about numbers its about soul when the flame inside you somehow faded and defeated against the time then you literally became old even died just waited to be buried

I say it is 50. There is a real reason why you never see pro athletes who are in their 50s.
