What are your thoughts on Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day?

How was your Friday April 24th? Mine was good, enjoying sporting activitity with my friends and a really good hamburger. But only 111 years ago in Armenia, different story...

Armenians were forced from their homes marched into Syria, systematically murdered, raped, starved and abused. Massacre totaled by estimates 600,000 to 1.5M people. That's a lot of people... imagine...

All of Dublin Ireland... wiped out! or Copenhagen Denmark... wiped out! or Austin Texas... removed of all inhabitants... purged!

This was achieved by the Muslim "Young Turks" of the Ottoman Empire in an effort to preserve their their empire. They were progressive, younger in their 20's to 40's, looking to move past monarchy to constitutional government. One such action was purging Christian Armenians whom were challenging for more rights.

This is the day we recognize the suffering, misery and unnecessary loss of life of so many we've never met.

One can only wonder the misery they experienced. However, some today, are experiencing similiar systematically in other regions. Suffering, has never left us.
