Hi, I'm not American and in my country we don't have parties which are so far apart as in the US, therefore here I'm more center-right. However if I were American, I would not vote republican (unless the candidates for presidency drastically change). Trump and his team are doing a lot of stuff against the rule of law, sounds boring but very important against corruption (or against recreating the Nazi period). He is even trying to have a 3th term as president (perhaps via being vice president of JD Vance), which is unconstitutional. I cannot understand why so many Americans can't see how Trump is constantly going against the constitution; against the 1 thing most important in the US. So to answer your question, democrats are offering candidates which are less/not corrupt and inconstitutional.

You might want to try doing two things. First of all, read the Constitution in its entirety including the Bill of Rights. Secondly, review all of Trump's actions and behavior since he was elected president. Now compare those two lists and you can figure out what he has done that has been unconstitutional. It's going to be a long list.

@Wodens_Apprentice There are many ways he tries to give himself (so the executive branch) more power than given by the constitution. Which is unconstitutional and a danger to the rule of law, because taking more power than given to you by the consitution is not allowed, this is because otherwise 1 branch (or one person) can take all the power which leads to abuse of power. An example of this is the way he tried to implement tarrifs when this is the power of the purse and solely something the legislative branch can do. He tried to do this by fasly interpreting a law which "gave" him the power to do so, however he interpreted this unconstitutionally. The Supreme Court actually said he couldn't do this and put a halt to this (which is kinda surprising because the judges there are mostly republican right now).
As for your second question, I am not a fan of all his promised plans, but some of his plans I did like (economically, ending the war between Russia and Ukraine etc).

I don't think he should be constantly restrained, he has gotten powers that belong to his president role, he shouldn't take over other roles. And there are reasons why he can't make all the laws without any restraint, it's supposed tot ake longer and it's supposed to be reviewed by multiple people. I don't really understand what you mean with the UK and more of a true democracy, the UK is not the same as the US, they have a very different election system etc. The US president gets his legitimacy from election, yes, but also Congress, which is legislative power, gets elected and is therefore a part of democracy. The UK doesn't have a president but a prime minister who isn't directly elected but he's part of the government (I realise you know this as your profile picture is the English flag). But my point is that the roles aren't the same and the US would be more of a "true" democracy because the executive branch is directly elected. But that isn't really more democratic tbh.

I'm not too big into modern Democracy myself but I think the Americans have the right idea when they start talking about the American dream, living off the land with as little government interference as possible.
If I were to have a democracy it'd look something more like what the Anglo Saxons & Vikings had. Moots, Things & local oral tradition as law. Everything gets decided at the gathering council.
In the Icelandic republic they didn't even need a king or leader to represent them, as their system worked well enough at enforcing the laws.
