I think people are more comfortable staying in their own lane. I dated a girl for a few months that came from a very affluent family and her friends were all spoiled rich kids. I was going to a crappy commuter college and work a shitty part time job and had to sweat every semester to pay tuition. I drove an old Chevy Nova that I was always trying to keep running. It was pretty obvious that I was not the same as her and her friends.
I think that maybe I hoped that some of her lifestyle would rub off on me.
