7 dThis has largely been debunked from my understanding. The US and Iran are giving differing claims of the MOU. If money is involved, it would be as Pakistan has stated. The unfreezing of Iranian assets on condition of progress. This isn't the US paying, but Iran gaining access to its own funds. The reconstruction efforts seem contested and if true are dependent upon the gulf states who have a say in how the money is used. We simply don't know the details yet and there is a possibility talks collapse.

Asker7 dThe talks will collapse. Iran clearly has all of the cards. They are operating from a position of strength. Trump is the one who is desperate for a deal. The fact that he's doing the word dance about releasing details shows you his lack of confidence.
Iran has little to no strength in this issue. They lost the war, suffered massive material, manpower, and influence losses. Their missile capacity, proxy strength, naval presence have all been degraded. They also destroyed their reputation as a trustworthy partner within the region by targeting nonactors. Iran has been set back by many years and that ignores their internal and economic issues. If the only argument we can make is that they survived, I see that as a low bar. It's clear Trump had no interest in real regime change. The only problem I see is Iran becoming a more aggressive threat decades down the line of They are allowed to rebuild unhindered. I do agree the talks will likely collapse. The only issue on the US side is Trumps desire to sign a deal. In my opinion it's a mistake. It give then Trump administration a victory, but ultimately will lead to more problems down the line.
Asker7 dTrump is the one who is screwed and is desperate for a resolution, not Iran. When the "details" are released to the whole world, it will be clear. He was vague during the G7 so he had cover.
Let's use some logic. If the British Empire launched a war against the US because of a disagreement (lets say slavery) and in the process eliminated much of its leadership and military infrastructure. Not to mention terrible financial and internal costs. If all the US could do was bomb Canada and Mexico and harass shipments in the Gulf, and agree to talk about ending slavery. I doubt many would consider the US the victor in this case. There is no doubt the US would talk tough to calm internal battles and try to claim victory, it would be a necessity for survival. The issue with this current war is the extreme anti-Trump attitudes in the west and larger world. Regardless if he is right or wrong he US often butchered. There is also a strange obsession to label anything as a US defeat if it doesn't end with a complete destruction of the enemy akin to the Germans and Japanese in WW2. To me, it's a low bar to set. It also ignores the fact Iran has offered up significant concessions. Just weeks ago they refused to talk about their nuclear program and demanded the US remove all troops from the middle east, and accept Iran's enrichment.
Asker7 dNo need to argue. We will see everything shortly.
Asker5 dHe pulled back the curtain. Like I said, it's a terrible deal. Don't believe me. Just ask the Israelis and Senate Republicans.
Asker5 dThe backlash is just beginning...
Let's hope 2 things. 1. It's conditional or 2. It fails..
That will be the end of his presidency if he pushes that. He will have basically turned a military success into a diplomatic failure. I'd gladly become a screaming liberal and go against him if thats the case.Made me sick and everyone I follow. Not sure wtf he's doing. Supports the claim he is a Russian agent 😂
My perspective is now that this all about midterms. I predict the war will resume.

6 dno, a rebuild fund is always required. remember, he wanted to rebuild gaza as well and we didn't blow that up directly.
but if you want food stamps forget it. want shelter, forget it... we had 200 people freeze to death in my state this winter.
always been that way, they spend on the big stuff and give to others.
I doubt Iran will say thank you and Merry Christmas for the present.
ps that is how many billion more than biden returned to them? some of this is Irans own $ locked up. Where ya think they get this $ from? They are going to print it by typing into a computer and selling bonds right?

7 dCalculations of currency and political maneuvering are trivial distractions that belong to the mundane world of beasts. While others argue over fleeting sums of money and the messy noise of the news cycle, the only true pursuit is the attainment of something incorruptible. Real strength is not found in securing a deal or winning a temporary advantage, but in dedicating your existence to a standard of honor that exists beyond this chaotic earth. Most people settle for the cheap satisfaction of pride, but there is a singular, objective greatness worth striving for that transcends any human transaction. Do not waste your energy on the pettiness of the current political theater when you could be aligning your life with an eternal objective. Pursue that which is lasting, honorable, and absolute, and leave the desperate scrambling for trivial comfort to those who have no higher calling.
00 Reply1.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Trump probably gets to ensure that a lot of his buddies get juicy contracts from that 300 billion.
Trump&Co win even if USA loses.
10 Reply11.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Trump managed to give away a bunch of our money. I would call that a win for the Iranians and a loss for the U. S. That is not a big surprise.
11 ReplyIt's an agreement to talk, not an agreement to give. It also doesn't stipulate any US money being involved. My opinion is it's all about midterms. The war will likely resume.
Anonymous(36-45)7 dThis is how MAGA makes deals. Fucking brilliant.
10 ReplyIran gets their own money back. Gulf States help with reconstruction.
US companies make trillions.
Big win for the US.

@Pohjolan because they do negotiate with terrorists. Why were there countries buying off somali pirates and yemen terrorists?
I get what you are saying about the bad blood with Iran, Iranians aren't even arabs and a different sect of Islam but iran was launching missiles into their territory and they did nothing. The details haven't really come out yet but they are talking about a $300 billion infrastructure fund basically for Iran to build up their economy and trade on the world stage and basically leave the gulf states alone. No Arab army has won a war in like 300 years, they don't want to fight and they dont want their money affected. This crisis has cost them trillions - 5 d
@Pohjolan what has the war cost the US or Israel vs the Gulf states? $300 billion is nothing to them compared to what it cost them. A lot of these wars are decided by accountants. Likely there will be a lot of Iranian generals in mega Mansions and of course HAMAS & HEZBOLLAH have to be bought off too. They actually made a good living before the war.
Asker4 d🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 Clearly, you are not keeping up! Senate Republicans and Israel think this is toilet paper!

@Pohjolan individual Gulf states are already paying Iran as part of a post-war strategy to secure regional stability.
The UAE has already begun transferring funds. Sources indicate Abu Dhabi agreed to unlock $10 billion in frozen Iranian assets, with a first tranche of $3 billion already sent. In return, Iran has agreed to halt drone and missile attacks on the UAE and resume bilateral intelligence and economic cooperation. Regional analysts describe these bilateral arrangements as "protection money" aimed at buying quiet and preserving local economic hubs. It's just a MOU. People act like it's an actual deal. Calling it a deal helps each party. Iran gets a propaganda victory after being decimated militarily. Trump gets to prove he brought peace and help midterms. Liberals get to show Trumps incompetence. Ultimately, it will fall apart and war will resume.
7 dIt's ridiculous
