Iran won for the simple reason they knew America could never justify unleashing it's full might. They can hit a few bunkers but thats about it, they were never going to flatten cities.

Once Trump threatened to bomb them back to the stone age and said a whole civilisation will die tonight he crossed the line and in the worlds eyes America had sunk to a new low.

But it was exactly what Iran wanted to hear, because once you make that level of threat you have to do it or back down and lose face.

Not really. I think looking back on it the situation probably played out it's most likely course.

They blocked the canal, America started blowing shit up, some people died, now there's sort of a new regime but not really? Nobody really seems fully convinced one way or the other.

Whoever decided to close that canal is probably dead now and someone else is in charge. We got a free boat filled with oil out of it and politically, it probably won't be smart for them to make another big move for maybe another year.

Seems like an even exchange to me. I don't think either side appears to have fully gotten what they want.

Yup. It did a good job. Iran did the unexpected by bombing the fuck out of Israel and U. S. military installations, and by closing the Straight of Hormuz. It also surprised Israel and the U. S. by not falling apart when its leaders were assassinated.

And, despite bragging by the U. S. administration, Iran is as strong as ever.

I am happily impressed.
May it continue to support the resistance against the psychopathic, expansionist, sadistic, racist, genocidal Zionist state. Iran is essential in that regard.

To be fair, Iran got lucky. They were up against the dumbest motherfucker ever to be elected president of the USA. And he has the personality of a spoiled toddler.

But yes, Iran played the hand they were dealt flawlessly and fought a larger economy and military to a draw politically and militarily. The USA looks like buffoons. Iran looks like the adult in the room. It was an impressive lesson in restraint and balls.
