Why does the world avoid direct military conflict with North Korea?

They are a hermit kingdom that largely leaves the world alone. The same can't be said for a nation like Iran. Also, North Korea has nukes and that acts as a deterrent.

but we did not avoid. they attacked sough korea and we got involved. since then kim only says threats. so we let him.

Because all they do is shake sticks, they haven't attacked anyone, and they aren't in the way of anything.

Doubtful. Russia is severely weakened, and China is more invested in the world. They barely helped Venezuela, Syria, Iran, etc.
