Several newspapers are predicting a riot tonight as England and Argentina fans converge on Atlanta. An extra 1500 police have been brought in given the reputation of both sides for violence and the past history of the two sides.
I had told my friend that I would be scared to be in that stadium today, precisely because of this. Argentinians really take this football rivalry dead serious… it’s not like their rivalry with Brazil, for them England is personal. But the English, not so much I think… but I really don’t think English flans would tolerate any shit either. Both national teams having some of the loudest and sometime problematic fans in football doesn’t help either. There was already an incident where some Argentinian fans tried to beat up an English fan after a game.
Their coach Lionel Scaloni told Argentina’s fans that it was only a game and to not politicize it, which I think was the right thing to do. So let’s just hope for the best. I hope nothing bad happens on either side.
I have been to that amazing stadium to watch Atlanta United play when they were actually good. Yes, they stole the name.
The rioters better not F up traffic as Atlantans hate that since it is bad enough to begin with most days.
The Atlanta cops can go two ways, be nice and patient or not. If this were civil rights related they would go nice and patient. I have a feeling this will fall under the “not” scenario. They are quite willing to crack heads as well. This could be even better than the game.

There was no riot. People were calm. England choked and they blew it once again. They can’t win the big game they had the lead they and they were afraid to go for the victory. Instead, they played not to lose on their heels 🙄 Audios England ✋ Where is there fire power? 👎🏻
Meh. I bet they'll be minor and isolated... I'm a bit jealous of those with BBC and ITV access. Alexi Lalas is a clown. Thierry Henri and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are obviously having a good, not so well concealed bit of a laugh at his expense.
Argentine and English fans were fighting in Atlanta before the match even started. There are some reports that some fights happened after the match, but nothing that would equal a riot.
The flag burning is too far, they're still sore after their asses were handed to them in 1982 by the British forces in Goose Green and other Falkland Island "strongholds" they thought they could just rock up and help themselves to.

We were at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
We were among thousands of people who cheered peacefully for Argentina.
Then we partied all night long in the city streets and in our hotel.
Throughout the day & night, no riots or protests broke out.
I heard about minor clashes between fans but those weren't news-worthy.
There were no mentions of the Falklands or bitter rivalries of both countries.
It may not be peaceful where you are but it is here in the USA.

I feel a bit cheated as there was no riot. I guess because Argentina won. Oh well, I suppose that is best for the kids.

I don't think English fans see it as anything to get violent over.
Argentinians? Look how they reacted when Top Gear was in their country to film a light hearted TV show.
They attempted to mob them. This is savagery.

They just aren't going to forget Goose Green are they? They should be pleased they got to take part in the last bayonet charge... you'd think.
