Out of curiosity, why don't you trust banks? I'd say in a home safe would be your best bet.

It's unlikely a thief will remove all insulating mats on your attic or board on the floor or remove side walls of your 150kg heavy freezer.
They start with checking of furniture, cloth stashes, bed stuff and small electronic devices. Sometime it's good to let some small fake loot in clothes or furniture so they think they found it.

I mean you have to really because you want interest otherwise inflation going to hurt which is why it goes into saving accounts or stocks to investments, also if you try to use a lot of it in one go it may flag things in terms of government wondering where it all came from.
But if ya really want to do it well you've seen breaking bad right? You put it under the floorboards or create vents to hide it in, hide it in your house spaces where unless someone knows you have all that money there nobody will look compared to ya know a giant safe in your room.

A mutual fund, or put it into bonds. Or if you have a large body of water on your property, buy gold and throw it into the water, wrap garbage bags around it then tie it to a metal string which can. E found with a metal detector.

If it's just the government you're afraid of you could also try hiding it in one of the potholes down the street since nobody seems to know that location exists.

If your in the USA, the Federal Government guarantees the first $250,000 per depositor per bank in the event of bank failure.

Honestly, in the event of a crisis large enough to wipe out a swathe of major banks, it's not clear what would be left that is 'safe'. Direct government debt (T bills, or their foreign equivalent) are probably best. Physical gold is also sure safety against that event, but is itself expensive to store safely.

Honestly, nowhere at home is safer than a regulated bank with deposit insurance. Hiding cash at home leaves you completely exposed to theft, fire, or simple loss.

I imagine the safest place would be literally in a safe and not one in your home. You might be able to rent space in a secure safe somewhere if there are any companies that do that around you. I would suggest that you not do this at all. You probably should re-examine your mistrust of banks.
