A mutual fund, or put it into bonds. Or if you have a large body of water on your property, buy gold and throw it into the water, wrap garbage bags around it then tie it to a metal string which can. E found with a metal detector.

If it's just the government you're afraid of you could also try hiding it in one of the potholes down the street since nobody seems to know that location exists.

Honestly, nowhere at home is safer than a regulated bank with deposit insurance. Hiding cash at home leaves you completely exposed to theft, fire, or simple loss.
