AI: Is it about whether we do it? Or whether we DON'T do it?

Here's my view:

When a certain group of Americans were decimating America's energy supply under a banner of "The Green New Deal," China saw an opportunity to become an adversarial superpower like it had never seen before and started building power plants as fast as they possibly could while we were shutting ours down and switching full speed ahead from what works to what doesn't work.

Result: China had the biggest economic advance it has ever had relative to the United States and now threatens to overtake us in a number of critical areas which not only threatens our economic future but our national security on every level.

Now we're going to make the exact same mistake again?

Why don't we ever learn anything from history?

When the weaving machine was invented in the 1700s, there was a movement that predicted that would be the end of civilization, same thing with computers, same thing with atomic bombs, same thing with space travel, same thing with the Internet and a hundred other technological advancements.

The real crisis is some peoples' pathetic lack of historical knowledge an intelligence. I think it's a far greater threat to our survival than AI. It's not about what happens if we do it. It's about what happens if we don't do it. And history has already answered that question.
