Is Trump really planning this arch as a personal fortress?

This represents perhaps two problems. First, foreign troops are unlikely to invade Washington, D. C. I think what Trump is really worried about is the fact that he's planning to stay in the White House and remain President long after his term is up. He anticipates that at some point people will attempt to forcibly remove him, and that may very well have something to do with the reason for the snipers and the drones, and really for this arch in general. Secondly, Trump is terrified of dying, and he is determined to leave his name on just about everything he can before that happens. I think this is a secondary but important reason for his determination to build this arch. The only security reasons for building an arch like this are Trump's security reasons or anticipated security reasons. The United States has no security reason to build this at all, and it will be simply a blot on the landscape that, after Trump's departure, will have to be torn down at great cost. I think we've spent enough on this Trump problem and on Donald Trump in general. I am not inclined to have my tax money used to build Trump a fort where he can hole up and fight against our troops that are trying to remove him, and I think this is likely to happen. What do you think?

Nah the design is just dysfunctional as a victory arch plus he might not win the war so he has to think of some other justification so Washington gets the world most expensive guard tower protecting a roundabout.

The idiot arch should be left as it will be as a reminder to future generations.

maybe he saw the "Civil War" movie and realized it was him that is captured at the end. He has been shot in the head, others tried to shoot him, who knows how many other efforts. that may make a person paranoid.

He was not shot in the head. He claimed that a bullet grazed his ear but I think he simply had a fake blood capsule in his hand and put his up to his ear and squeezed it to pretend as if there have been an assassination attempt. It is true that a person in the audience was killed, but I think that had more to do with a secret service person firing into the crowd mistakenly.

You're going delusional. What's the reasonable answer. He was hit in the ear by a bullet. That, will impact anyone. If anything, it's remarkable he got up and functions... most people would not have shown up to work for 2 weeks and need therapy. It is a concern if such event impacted his mental functioning and maybe there needs evaluations and congressional review. but that's all political and can be abused for sake of power.

The arch is simply a monument to trump that he wants to stamp on D. C. Just as his name is on a host of towers, etc. If he needed a fortress, there are unknown safety spots for a president to head to in time of war. The arch would be in an exposed spot. Doesn't seem practical..

I understand the concept. It's a destructive one. However- I have a counter suggestion: let him build. But don't waste the resources that had been spent already. Turn them into something different... something 'positive' later on.
This ''arch'' for example one day could host humanitarian events. A border wall one day can become a huge advertising surface. Trump Towers -once finally bancrupt- can become shelters for the homeless. Make sure that as much as the name ''Adolf'' is unpopular for new-borns to be given in Germany, the name ''Donald'' is perceived as a curse rather than a realistic option.
In two years from now you indeed may need to run your own Nuremburg Trials. But why would 'innocent' building structures serve as scape-goats of a short historical episode?
