What's the worst excuse you've ever seen a criminal make for their crimes?

For me I don't remember his specific name or where this took place but apparently this guy had raped and killed his child daughters who I believe were 4 and 7 years old and when he got caught he said basically word for word: "In life the good things that we do are forgotten about meanwhile the bad things that we do are never forgotten. You can do a hundred good things and do just one bad thing and no one will forget that one bad thing."

And just... just... I don't even know what to say. He talked as if he did something small and inconsequential like he stole something from the grocery store or cheated on his girlfriend back in college. Not the rape and murder of his own children.

Wow... just wow. And that's not only a total bullshit excuse but people with depression are more likely to hurt THEMSELVES and/or commit suicide rather than harm someone else. Most depressed people are a danger to themselves and harmless towards others.
