What is the reason for racism based on skin color?

[msc545]

In the United States, ever since Trump occupied the presidency, there has been a resurgence of racism throughout the entire country based on skin color. People who are white are favored heavily by the government and by the right wing, and people who are not white are discriminated against heavily. Why is this? What difference does skin color make?

I think it has to do with education, both scholastic and what they are taught by their peers/family. Nobody is born hating anyone. People start hating and have biases thanks to poor education in school, keeping them stupid, and easily pliable to hatred taught to them by others.

Racism is a pathetic cop-out to avoid having to deal with your own failures as a person.

"Oh the illegals are stealing our jobs!!"

Bitch, you could apply to those jobs that they do, but you refuse to because you think it's beneath you. You just don't want anyone who isn't your race to succeed in life when you can't do it yourself too.

In the end, racists are low lives who don't know anything but selfishness and hatred. Best to just ignore their rhetoric.

Precisely why Trump and his ilk try to suppress education, after all he did actually say "I love the poorly educated" It's not a mistake that our public schools are under attack.

I disagree pretty strongly. Ingroup outgroup dynamics are universal. How strongly they affect behaviour and precisely which people are in and out are learned.

[Ez-Bri-Z_v2]

Uh, that's what I said. It's also because a lack of education and experiences with other races in this world that help make them pliable to that taught hatred

I think racism has a lot to do with history, fear, and the desire for power. Some people grow up believing that their skin color makes them superior, and others use those beliefs to divide people and maintain control. Skin color itself means absolutely nothing about a person's intelligence, character, or worth. As a white woman, I don't believe being born with lighter skin makes me better than anyone else. What concerns me is how easily prejudice becomes normalized when people in positions of power reinforce it. We should be judging people by their actions and character, not by the color of their skin. We’re all human beings at the end of the day. 🤍

It's heavily worsened by BLM riots. If my house was burned down by BLM, i would probably become a white supremacist too. Also zionist billionaires sponsored BLM... guess why? Because extremist groups help gather support on the opposite side. Controlled opposition. What a surprise! Almost as if it didn't happen with CIA infiltrating muslim communities to portray them as terrorists.

It's mostly the billionaires making up racial shit to control us. I'm sure there are also white groups paid to act out super racist, just to make others see white supremacy as more problematic than it is. Cultural wars then give the president another excuse to assert more violence. ㅤ

A fascist needs an "other" to villainize and dehumanize. Black folk and latinos are generally easy to identify at a glance... they don't even have to be made to wear big yellow stars of David to be identified for persecution by John Q.
Distinctly in the case of black folk, there is also the "tiger by the tail" fears that rich whites have. They've been screwing them over for maybe 400 years now, holding them down, so what happens if they ever get to stand on level footing? The rich fear that will be retribution.
As for the reason generally to demonize everyone who looks different Lyndon Johnson famously said "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you". Now you've divided the average folks into several segments. The poor white guy will lash out against the others trying to insure that he maintains his percieved higher perch on the totem, meanwhile the wealthy get away with everything they do because everyone else is to mad to pay attention.

As an excuse for slavery and other predations. It's easier to enslave people, to slaughter them, to dispossess them when you view them as less than human. That's why the rhetoric from the right in the US is so disturbing -- it dehumanizes everyone who opposes them.

[Sevenpointfive]

because they are slaves. elitists never left. so equal races threatens their history. if your history made you rich and continues to do so by slavery then racism has basis.

[loveslongnails]

I think the primary reason is you are taught to be racist. It's fear based on ignorance.

[ellllltr]

Racism is taught.
