I think choice is a byproduct of our nature combined with our circumstances and environment.
But it is essential to keep thinking that the choice is ours or at least we have some control over the way we react or response, otherwise we will lose our sanity.

So much of who we are is shaped by things we never chose… our upbringing, experiences, fears, even the people we meet.

Maybe the real freedom lies in becoming aware of those influences and deciding what we do with them.
