Good Lord !! The anon responder here blaming hospital closings on obesity much be on crack. When you come back at me, keep in mind my SO and I have over 30 years experience in the field dealing with everything from state and federal policy making to hospital operations, from Medicare to insurance claims, from docs and nursing issues to accessible care in rural areas, tribal coverage and FQHC's.

I can already tell the pink anon clearly knows NOTHING about how health care policy, insurance and hospitals operate in the USA. I realize she THINKS she does by scapegoating the problems of an entire "health care for profit system" vs a "health care for people system" on obesity.

Sure, obesity is a problem, but she doesn't seem to realize it's by DESIGN. Create the problem via the food supply and misinformation, then sell the solution. That's been going on for decades, but the intentional defunding of medical care is having the dual effect of causing shutdowns for BOTH Community, non-profit hospitals AND privately owned, strictly for-profit hospitals.

Reducing obesity by 25% or even 50% would be great for all involved, except perhaps the highly processed food industry, but it would affect policy decisions, budget allotments or anything of the sort. It also wouldn't ultimately effect the corporate bottom line because they'd implement steeper charges if you made fewer visits.

So yes, let's eliminate adult and child obesity as best we can, but to DO that requires education, affordable healthy food sources and destroying the ENTIRE health care for profit culture that has been in place FOREVER in the USA.
