Would you rather: Would you rather always lose or never play? My guess is more guys would rather never play than lose, but we'll see

Well, if I'm going to always lose every single time, then I'd rather never play. I heavily believe in the "trying" aspect of most things, but eventually there has to be some return on my efforts or else it really is futile. Similar to the story of Sisyphus in Greek mythology - where he was condemned to push an enormous boulder up a hill only to have it roll back down once it reached the top, again and again for eternity - losing every time at something would eventually just be pure torture to the psyche of an individual.

Well if I'm always losing at something, then I don't see the thrill to push me to want to play it again. Part of what makes me play something again is when I know that I can actually progress in it, otherwise I see no point staying in one level every time, knowing that I will never progress to the next level to see what new challenges it brings, thus I would not like to play again if I know I'll lose.

Always lose.

I can have a LOT of fun losing, provided I know it's going to happen.

You can only lose when you've defined what "winning" is.

Is winning getting a date? Number?

Or maybe winning is just to make someone day.

Which means I could ruin someones day.

Always losing could be very entertaining :)

Never playing... that's just someone who's given up.

If the question was just that then I'd rather never play because what's the point of playing if I ''know'' I'm always going to lose? If I didn't know I was going to lose during whatever I was playing then I'd play it because it's not just only set for me to lose.

depends on what you are talking :

some things are fun to do wether you lose or win , like a video game or football or a music contest ...

others are just about the result , and there it's better to do nothing if you know you're gonna lose

Depends on what you're talking about. Would I want to play something if it was a guaranteed loss? Probably not but since that is never the case I would rather play.

Well my favorite team is the Browns and we lose week in and week out. It sucks and it drives me nuts BUT it was worse when we lost our team for some years. So I would rather lose than never play.

In video games, my "specialty" is to fight an impossible battle with little possibility of victory. Give 'em hell if I lose, or do an impossible win. That's what I like : )

If I knew I knew before that I'll never ever win, I probably wouldn't play. But if I knew (or believed) that there's only even a tiny chance that I'll win one time, I'd keep playing and playing...

I have played and lost many games/sports, now with my injuries I can say I have not really lost because it makes me stronger and better. If I never make the attempt, I can really say I have lost in that I have lost the opportunity
