Here's the scenario. I'm in a place that desperately needs redone. Everything. The attic still has the old push button light switch. The plumbing, electrical, water lines, sewer lines, walls, appliances, etc. You get it. Everything needs done. The place will cost me about $100,000. Not sure how much renovation will cost. Should I look for another place about $250,000, renovate, or renovate and sell?

Rebuild the house.

I believe your house should be in a good condition if you wanna sell it so you should definitely renovate it anyways but it's up to you. But for now you need to think about your financial situation and life circumstances. The question is, do you want to restore the house and keep it or sell it?

I have been working a lot. Like 172 hours a paycheck to pay off everything to but a house. I don't really like this place but it might be a good flip.

Exactly. I don't have the time. I already wasted a lot fixing up someone else's house. Didn't finish and that was 4 months with when I can do it.

How much do you think you can sell it for? If you out 100,000 in and can get more to put towards new place, do that. But otherwise I’d get new place and sell this one. Can you talk to a realtor see how much they predict you can get for this place?

I was thinking of that. But the way most of it is, I don't know if I can get more out of it. Renovation costs might be high. That's why I asked on here. I don't know how much it will cost and have to have a licensed contractor.

Hmmm if it were me and I could get a new place I’d do it and sell this as is.

It’s not just money you’re putting in it’s fine labor life.

I’d just get out and start over. Don’t waste time with a money trap. I’ve been in similar situations & I just regret the time wasted. I think you’ve been working so hard just a shame to dump it into a piece you don’t want. Let the next people deal with it. Unless you are going to have help and can make a joyful project out of it, I’d just get on with life.
