People who don't respect boundaries?

Why do people constantly try to push boundaries when you lay them down?

Say for instance when I say no I don't want do something why do they keep asking me over & over. Why isn't one no enough even if I'm being assertive. It's tiresome and pretty hurtful when I respect others personal boundaries but when mine come in they keep trying to test them? Why do this?

People who don't respect your boundaries don't respect you. You don't have to deal with a person who's trying to impose their will on you. If you don't want to do something, the first time you say no they should back off. if they dont, stop engaging them. don't get in conversations with them unless you have to, and if so keep it only about the subject necessary to speak about and that's it. You don't have to keep pleading your will to them, just ice them out if they keep asking you over and over. clearly they don't care that you don't want to do it, all they care about is you doing it for them whether you enjoy it or not.

Its a difference in mindset. there are the sorts that think "rules are there for a reason" and others who think "rules are made to be broken." Also, it has to do a lot with context. what one person sees as common sense may be viewed as cowardice or inability to think outside the box to others

It comes down to respect though. If you are making it clear that something bothers you then people should have the decency to respect that.

I don't get people that are like that to be honest. I'm pretty sure they want their boundaries respected and turn absolutely appalled when someone gives them the same disrespect back like they didn't deserve it. I've run into those types (obviously) and I don't understand it.

I linger towards the liberal side and love to push myself but I think that personal boundaries should be respected... especially physical and religious issues. There is a realm of acceptability with these things.

If you're talking about your parents it's because they are showing you they care in the worst possible way. If it's friends or other acquaintances, tell them to f*** off
