Will nicotine show up in a blood test to check glucose levels to determined if I have diabetes or hyperthyroidism? I did chewing tobacco for the first time and had fasting blood work 2 days later?

In a fasting blood glucose test they have you fast for 12 hours, at which point you come in, they take your blood sugar and then you consume a really sugary beverage and they take your blood sugar every 20 minutes or so, depending on the place. It is an even interval though.

However, remember, that it is a blood glucose (sugar) test. They are testing your body's ability to absorb sugars in the blood.

In a normal person, the cells of your body take up blood sugar and regulate it with the help of insulin.

In a diabetic, this is defective, meaning one's blood sugars are chronically high.

They are not doing a blood analysis.

Nope. It's not like they take a vial of your blood and can magically see whatever's in it with one test :P They have specific testing equipment/strips/reactors for each thing they test for. If the test is only for glucose, they're only going to test for glucose.

If I'm 18 but still go to a pediatrician and they did test for everything would they have to tell my parents?
