Preventing dogs from pooping on sidewalks?

Question

I don't own a dog, but there's always some poop on the sidewalks in my neighborhood. There's a lot of dog owners in my neighborhood. Shouldn't they pick up after their dog? There's also a lot of smears on the sidewalks. Why do dogs poop on the sidewalk? Can't they poop somewhere else? How can this be prevented? I can't even enjoy a leisurely neighborhood stroll.

I'm not sure what you can do besides standing outside watching people go by. I have seen someone who has a sign that says no pooping before kind of like this one.

Besides that I don't know what you should do short of going around to all your neighbors and saying I would really appreciate it if your dogs don't poop on the sidewalk and that would be really embarrassing to do.

Generally speaking dogs usually poop in the grass or bushes. However if a dog were to poop on the side walk it is the owners responsibility to clean it up.  I'm not sure what can be done to be honest, except to have poop in scoop signs with a fine amount on it, to remind people  to do it.

Contact your mayor and tell them to institute a poop and scoop law.  Some cities have laws about this. It really is gross when too many people leave sh*t everywhere.

You get that upset by some turd at the side of the road? Are you serious?There's dog sh*t everywhere, yeah, but I can still enjoy a leisurely stroll. It's the way of nature, man. I mean, in 500,000 bc, or whatever, nobody was picking up their poop and disposing of it, right? It didn't bother them, I'm certain.

It's up to the dog owner to set the example in this respect. I poop on the lawn twice a day, and my dog follows suit. Of course this doesn't always work. For instance, I pee on the neighborhood children, but my dog stubbornly prefers the mailbox.

Small rat dogs tend to do that. Their legs are so short they don't want to walk in the grass and trip. Real dogs like to hit trees and stuff deep in someone's yard to claim territory. =D

They really should pick up after their dogs. Where I live, there's deposit bins, and there's litter stations where dogs can do their business.

You can't really stop a dog from pooping somewhere, but an owner should clean up afterwards.

u can't do anything about the dog pooping...they have to go. its the owners who need to be punished harsher fines? but they have to be caught brown handed lol not something you can prevent
