Why does cartoon network have random & weird shows now?

I don't get them, lol some creep me out. I don't know how my brother's can watch them. I'm not against cartoons but these new ones are weird. At least I think they are.

There have always been creepy and weird cartoons.

Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, Animaniacs, AH! Real Monsters, Angry Beavers, Spongebob, And it's not a cartoon but fuckin' Teletubbies, and those are just a few of many.

Things in the 90s, and generally things you experience when you grow up are always going to be "better" than whatever this new shit is. That's just the way your brain works.

Think about it- Ed, Edd & Eddy was about... a bunch of weird looking kids who are kinda creepy and weird all chasing after... jaw breakers?

Courage the Cowardly Dog was terrifying when I was a kid, what the hell was that all about?! Scary shit trying to eat/kill/control/whatever these old people and this purple dog with a hole in his tooth has to save them? WHAT THE FUCK?

Cartoons these days are no weirder or creepier than what we had as kids, we were just kids so we accepted it. And if you just relax and watch some of the shows (Adventure Time is a personal favorite of mine) the most of them aren't creepy, they're really goofy and fun. You're just a grown up now and you're more serious, you've adapted to the old shows so you can enjoy them but you've lost the ability to adapt to new ones.

We're all more partial to what we grew up with- nostalgia, that's what it's all about. That's what this whole war over music is all about. Music hasn't gotten any better or any worse it's just changed and some people don't like that change.

I agree with you for the most part, but all the shows you mentioned were shows that didn't withstand the test of time anyways.

Cartoons like Powerpuff Girls, Dexters Lab, Rugrats, etc. are still raking in good ratings. Enough for CN to make new movies for them.

There are a few gems of every generation, from every form of art. There's a reason most know who Frank Sinatra is but not The Hooters.

However, I think QA means there are more "gems" of 90s toons than there are today. I concur.

Ah something I've been wondering for a few years now too. When I was the business head of a small organization (I was 23/24 yo then), I used to lock my chamber up to watch the 'Power Zone' - swat kats etc and the others you mentioned like Jhonny Bravo, Dexter's Laboratory, Power Puff Girls etc too were fab (I'd always be far above my budgets so my team would be relaxed too lol ;) ). Later when I got married, had a lovely daughter and I tried watching them again (had graduated to much larger organizations with a much larger profile so couldn't ever watch television even though I had one in my chamber), I've wondered the same thing too - where are those cool and awesome cartoons.

I was in my early 20's not really growing up stage but I've always loved the cartoons :D when I was younger i.e. 9-10 onwards I used to love reading Tintin, Obelix & Asterix, Ghost Rider, you name it and any other novels, I'd finished them all off by the time I hit 19 :D

With all due respects to answers out here it's not nostalgia for me, I really liked those shows and miss them. I do think the one's these days are weird. BUT kids seem to love them so there :D

hell yea I miss that Late 90s Cartoon Network too! I Also missed Toonami. cause I'm not feeling the new animes that the new Toonami been broadcasting. though I am an anime freak I must admit that I can't stand Naruto and Bleach!
