What does it really mean when people say you are animated?

When people say to you, "You're so animated". Is it a positive thing or negative thing? I have heard people using it in different contexts where some seem to be positive and the others seem to be negative, so I am confused.

I’ve been called “animated” on multiple occasions. I’ve asked people, who called me this term, animated, “How so?” Or “what do you mean” or “is that a good thing?”. Many answers stemmed to the features of my face and how I move or express my emotions. For example, I apparently have bold features such as dark and high cheekbones, dark eyebrows, fare olive skin, and pouty lips, and apparently resemble cartoonish animal cat like features. How I move in boomerang’s and small videos resembles anime cartoon girls or cute like movements. In regards to if this is positive or negative, I think that remains subjective and how the person being called “animated” feels like. Therefore, it’s neither really a positive or negative term, more so a neutral term. I don’t mind being called animated. It means to me that I have stand out features that is obviously noticeable and unique. I like being different.

To me, an animated person is someone who is outgoing, talkative and very expressive. They seem happy or interested in or excited about their conversations and interactions with others. For me it's always had much more of a light-hearted tone than a negative one.
