How Trump Is Killing Off the ‘Reagan Republican’ in Congress

Less than a decade ago, all but a few Republicans in Congress would have taken the title of “Reagan Republican” as a badge of honor.

The 40th president’s “peace through strength” mantra guided decades of GOP philosophy on foreign affairs, with generations of Republicans emulating Ronald Reagan’s vision for modernizing the military and investing in alliances abroad.

But these days, as the GOP remakes itself in the image of Donald Trump, the moniker of “Reagan Republican” is no longer the proud distinction it once was.

It’s more like a MAGA epithet.

For over a year now, Congress has struggled to pass new aid for Ukraine, the war-torn nation dismantling the military of one of the United States’ most hostile enemies. Israel, long considered one of the U. S.’s most important allies, hasn’t received congressionally approved aid in the wake of Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack either. And Taiwan, staring down surging Chinese aggression, is also waiting on help from Congress.

Not lending a hand to these countries would have once been unthinkable to Reagan’s party. But the growing sect of “America First” Republicans are actively standing in the way. And as that faction stalls aid and U. S. allies suffer, Democrats and the dwindling camp of more hawkish Republicans are watching in disbelief.

“It’s not my father’s Republican Party,” said Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL)—the co-chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus. “My father’s Republican Party was pro-trade, pro-military, and pro-business.”

In 2020 the wall was a good enough argument for some people to not support Trump. Now that the vile liar Biden is going back on his word to not build wall, are you going to stand with the anti-wall people and make sure you don’t vote for Biden the lying wall-builder?

Trump Unveils New MAGA Merch—Gold Sneakers and Perfume

First there were MAGA hats, shirts and flags… Now there are gold shoes.

Former President Donald Trump unveiled his newest line of self-branded merch at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Saturday as the new Trump Branded Shoes were introduced to go along with the other Trump clothing his supporters unabashedly wear.

The branded shoes include the gold “Never Surrender High Top Sneaker,” for $399, the white and gold athletic fit “POTUS 45” for $199, and the red athletic “T-Red Wave” for $199.

“I think it’s gonna be a big success,” Trump said, adding “that’s the real deal,” while holding up the gold shoes.

Trump Launches $399 Sneaker Brand A Day After $355 Million Verdict Against Him

As he closes in on the Republican presidential nomination, former President Donald Trump made a highly unusual stop Saturday, hawking new Trump-branded sneakers at “Sneaker Con,” a gathering that bills itself as the “The Greatest Sneaker Show On Earth!”
Trump was met with loud boos as well as cheers at the Philadelphia Convention Center as he unveiled what he touted as the first official Trump footwear. The shoes, gold lame high tops with an American flag detail on the back, are being sold as “The Never Surrender High-Tops” for $399 on a new website that also sells Trump-branded “Victory47” cologne and perfume for $99 a bottle.

The website says it has no connection to Trump’s campaign, though Trump campaign officials promoted the appearance in online posts.
The launch comes a day after a judge in New York ordered Trump to pay a whopping $355 million in penalties, finding that the former president lied about his wealth for years, scheming to dupe banks, insurers and others by inflating his wealth on financial statements.

The stiff penalty came after Trump was ordered to pay another $83.3 million to the writer E. Jean Carroll for damaging her reputation after she accused him of sexual assault. With interest payments, Trump’s legal debts might now exceed a half-billion dollars — an amount it is unclear he can afford to pay.
