Some recent laws are going through the court system and they’re arguing the Supremacy Clause again. Which in the constitution says federal govt has supremacy, but then contradicts itself to say states have power too. (Damn the founders!)

Personally I don’t see the point in 50 separate governments rather than one in DC. It’s still run by our representatives.

I’ve moved my extended family from state to state and it is a fckin nightmare transferring Medicaid and Social Security between states, because each one allocates it differently. If I worked directly with the fed agencies, it’d have been over in two seconds.

But this is the original divide in our country that led to a Civil War that still didn’t decide it.

Turkey is now referred to as Türkiye.

In April 2022, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan asked the international community to recognize his nation by its traditional name, spelled “Türkiye” and pronounced Tour-key-yeh.

This sort of thing is not without precedent.

For many years, anglophones have called the southwest African nation of Côte d'Ivoire as Ivory Coast. "Côte d'Ivoire" literally is the French translation of Ivory Coast. However, Côte d'Ivoire is a francophone nation having previously been a French colony in Africa. In the mid-1980s, Côte d'Ivoire requested the international community to refer to it by the name Côte d'Ivoire and not as Ivory Coast. For the most part, the international community has which is why you see on maps the name Côte d'Ivoire and not Ivory Coast anymore.

Expect the same thing to happen to maps regarding the transition from Turkey to Türkiye. It seems that Google Maps has just made the change too; I've been waiting for a few weeks.

agree or disagree? The meaning is that the upper class (rich) can afford to pay the fine, and will often continue to do the illegal behavior. And therefore The lower class (poor) are the real subjects of the law.

Everyone should be outraged that our Gov't hid evidence to get Trump supporters convicted of crimes they didn't commit. The complete video has Trump telling people to protest peacefully and shows police allowing and helping people inside and into offices. Biden lied. Pelosi lied. Republican Rinos lied. The officer that we told was killed by protesters was alive and shown in video and died at home from a stroke. He was never attacked by protesters. The people charged with crimes were not allowed to use the videos to argue they were innocent. Now their attorney can appeal convictions with these videos. The J6 committee edited the videos to make people look guilty and would not show all of the videos. This is fraud and all the members of the Committee should go to prison for fraud. All the Democratic leaders should go to prison for fraud and lying.

“Boy Meets World” star Ben Savage officially launched his campaign for Congress on Monday with a pitch for what his potential leadership would bring to the 30th District of California.

Savage filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission in January to run for Congress as a Democrat in 2024. He is seeking the House seat currently held by Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff, who announced in late December that he is running for Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s Senate seat.

Savage, who made a failed bid for the West Hollywood City Council in 2022, detailed on Monday why he’s running for office.

“I’m running for Congress because it’s time to restore faith in government by offering reasonable, innovative and compassionate solutions to our country’s most pressing issues,” the actor wrote on Instagram.

“And it’s time for new and passionate leaders who can help move our country forward,” he continued. “Leaders who want to see the government operating at maximum capacity, unhindered by political divisions and special interests.”

While Savage remains best known as a child star, he interned under Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) in 2003 and studied political science at Stanford University.

Texas lawmaker files ‘TEXIT’ bill to spur vote on exploring secession from US

A Texas state lawmaker filed a bill on Monday that would set a referendum for voters to decide whether the state should explore the possibility of seceding from the United States.

If the measure — known as the TEXIT Referendum Act — passes, a referendum on whether Texas “should reassert its status as an independent nation” would be scheduled for the next general election on Nov. 7, 2023. The bill would also require potential plans to be presented to the state legislature.

“The Texas Constitution is clear that all political power resides in the people,” Rep. Bryan Slaton (R) wrote in a statement. “After decades of continuous abuse of our rights and liberties by the federal government, it is time to let the people of Texas make their voices heard.”

A coalition of Texas lawmakers — including Slaton — filed the same bill in March 2021, which was referred to the State Affairs committee. It did not, however, receive a hearing or a vote.

Slaton said this time around, he was filing the bill 187 years after the fall of the Alamo.

“On this 187th anniversary of the fall of the Alamo I’m proud to file this bill to let the people of Texas vote on the future of our State,” Slaton wrote in his statement. “Texas was born out of a desire for liberty and self-governance, and that desire continues to burn in the hearts of all Texans.”

The Texas Nationalist Movement (TNM) — whose mission is to secure and protect the political, cultural and economic independence of Texas — called the filing of the bill “great news.”

They've got a big contract that will pay for years to re-supply 155mm howitzer shells. That means a growing economy! They currently "only" produce 11,000 shells a month and Ukraine is burning through 5000 shells a day (150,000 month), so they could expand the contracts. It's a small world after all isn't it? Good for them, they could use the jobs and they are providing essential materials using their expertise and resources... refining metal!

There's a lot you can do in PA nearby. You could drive to King of Prussia and get an excellent Sunday brunch and visit Cartier Jewlers and get your lady something shiny, visit Gettysburg memorial and learn about the USA Civil War 1 or go skiing in Poconos.

I would argue that most men are instinctually protective and caring towards women vs. abusive/violent.

If they weren’t then the majority of women living 200+ years ago would of been consistently raped, beaten, abused by men. Even though that was much more common back then I will never believe the majority of women suffered that on a grand scale. Most men don’t naturally enjoy harming women.

Sure “patriarchy” was the law of the land for most of human history. But I truly believe most men have are instinctually protective over women and wanted them to be happy. They didn’t see them as “slaves” either. They would be like this WITHOUT feminism.

Now allowing women in the work force, leadership, positions of power is a different topic. Of course that was a major issue for most of humanity. But I am really fed up with feminists who believe that men in general would all act on their débase and violent instincts if given the opportunity. Fed up with their false belief that all men are “potential rapists”

Most men aren’t like that no matter what time era they lived and/or if they had to face punishment for their bad behavior or not.

I’m curious. Just read about a Latino KKK member. At least his parents claim they’re Latino.
But since eugenics sprang up, “race” has been at the forefront. Be it cops identifying suspects, politicians identifying voters, etc.

Before then race wasn’t that important. I mean blacks were called “boys” or “n*goers” whatever bullshit. But we seem to compartmentalize more today.
