Socialist feminism argues that women’s oppression is tied not only to patriarchy, but also to capitalism. It generally supports universal childcare, government-funded healthcare, paid leave, stronger labor protections, social housing, and broader public control over care and economic life. Supporters see this as collective liberation; critics argue it expands state power, weakens private institutions and family independence, and ties feminism to an anti-capitalist agenda.

I strongly oppose it because I reject the idea that women can only be liberated by weakening capitalism, traditional families, private property, and economic independence. Replacing reliance on family, community, and voluntary institutions with greater dependence on government is not liberation in my view. Women deserve dignity, security, and opportunity, but those goals are better pursued through strong families, fair employment, private ownership, voluntary cooperation, and targeted reforms rather than socialist control over economic and family life.
