This is a complicated question, but much of it is poor political choices and the wilful ignorance of the public.
For example, as far as I am concerned, covid was almost entirely made up, and yet it had such disastrous consequences for the entire fabric of society. Most people are gullible as fuck. But then there's the overt consequences such as the 500 billion addition to the national debt.
People are extremely economically illiterate. These idiotic left-wing politicians in Wales and Scotland will talk about the 'austerity' of the Tories and the evils of Westminster. When we have a national debt near 100% of GDP. Something like each household has a share in the national debt of £100000 and we pay something like 100 odd billion a year just in the debt interest alone (never mind paying back the principle). Our benefits system is out of control. There is no sense how to get the economy to grow (ie getting rid of the ludicrous net zero, deregulating, creating incentive for business, getting people off welfare by making it less lucrative). The government also thinks it is sensible to target our food producers, farmers, with onerous inheritance tax which likely means they won't be able to pass their farm on to the next generation, and it will be brought up by some Blackrock Vanguard type institution or sold on for housing migrants).
Just poor choices all around and socialism out of control really.
Sickness, much sickness.
So then any external shocks, and we feel it ever more.
COVID was almost entirely made up? The US had more than 1 million excess deaths due to COVID. You think 1 million corpses were made up? FFS people.
People actually count deaths.
@MrChinaski The US was hardest hit but it's a big country and statistics always have to be put into context. 40% of your population are obese. This is an incredible figure. Rather than a jab campaign they should have been told to go for a jog and two walks a day, and stop eating like a hippopotamus. Proper flu can be very dangerous. Being a 20 stone lard arse isn't doing yourself any favours. In the land of personal responsibility, people need to take some.
in a nutshell: cause money accumulates in fewer and fewer people naturally ( the "invisible hand" of the marked). and that continues untill the majority is poor enought to be ready to start a war. that way we'll have another world war during wich there will be some level of re-distribution but the richest people will still be the richest so they'll be ahead after the reset. and since a world war lots of people will die, the relative wealth of the individual will rise again. that's how history goes. don't shoot the messenger. it is what it is. nothing you can do.
National debt. Inflation allows most countries to mitigate debt, especially if the governments have to buy bounds back in their own currency. However inflation destroys middle class financial assets and banks, this stops investments.
Inflation drives cost of living high
Partly oil prices and other consequences of global conflict. Partly it's just the new normal... the gains from massive reductions in prices of manufactured goods through ICT and Chinese integration in the world economy have played out... secular stagnation.
it is called "supply demand" let in many immigrants without permission. dont expel- so they fill houses- so price is crazy high. all because of open borders.
except in america we expel invaders. see "poverty fell" said census bureau
Real (after inflation) income is *RISING*. Why is the media pushing doom and gloom about the Trump economy when the facts say just the opposite? ↗
Mass immigration. Like in the uk they are providing more welfare than for their own citizens
People immigrating from richer countries and buying up real estate
wars, oil crisis, transfer of country economies to military production, immigration problems in some countries
Trump tariffs and Iran war
It is going up far too quickly in the USA Uggggggg
Global war and limited resources
consumerism
It is mostly greed.
