Is being a man really harder than being a woman to portray?

Research says that men sell more books than women, so I have been trying to make myself sound more masculine in my writing and trying to disguise my gender is one of the hardest intellectual tasks I have ever had to do. I used to think men had an easier time building their identity then women, because men are designed to be singular identity beings, while women are designed to be dual or tripartite identity beings, since their social role cannot be described in a singular personality lens, but pretending to be a man is very, very, hard!

The framing of the question, and the description confuses me.

The question asks: Is it harder to portray being a man than to portray being a woman? (I'm only changing the word order here. Also to help myself.) I don't think one is fundamentally harder than the other. I would imagine that it's easier to portray one's own gender.

Now to the description: As far as I know men are only more successful in the field of adult books (and draw in literature aimed at preteens). In Young Adult women dominate the field, and sales.

To me it seems that the field of "coming of age" stories has more women passionate with it, and eventually more successful there. I would also blame the fields where men outsale women on the aspects of how much it resonates with them (maybe experience). Nothing says that women are overall lesser writers. Having more than one identity won't make for a worse book either..

men are forced to take responsibilities from a young age. usually fathers are distant and unloving towards their boys. As a man, I would be much happier if I had a daughter right now😅
