Do Americans watch the six nations if they're descendants of the countries?

The six nations rugby tournament has just kicked off over here. I know rugby isn't played in the states much with you people preferring gentler sports like American football. But you do have a sizeable population of itaian-Americans, irish-Americans etc. So I was wondering do these groups watch it and support their native lands?

Let me ask you when is the last time you heard of a rugby player getting in trouble in America there's always a football player in the news or something bad that he has done usually to a female I'm just curious because of the disciplined that rugby players versus football players and the mental strategies that are used

It's a different culture. People watch rugby because they like it and fans mix. But with football it's more tribal with too many just out to cause trouble.

@purplepoppy yes i agree even tho rugby players are badass are more disciplined it is strategically a form of Art where you're using your brain and your body all at the same time and these boys are tough I've always loved rugby because it is a 100% team sport and you have to be a badass person to play it to take that punishment and also use your brains do not take the punishment

When I was in school in California, rugby wasn't a recognized sport in our physical education classes, nor was it played in any school leagues.

Rugby is being played in American universities, with a following sufficient that one of the major networks would broadcast matches on Saturday afternoons. I've watched rugby a few times. It's not my cup of tea.

Ah Rugby, I have watched it a few times. I might try to watch a game. Mostly because I have seen several Rugby tackles make tackles in football look like a joke. Yet football players are badasses... ditch the pads and run at each other at a full sprint. Also completely blindsiding the person with the ball isn't against the rules.

Irish American here. My family came over around the year 1900. I am very tuned into the news and global news. I guess I have heard about it but it must have been more like a fart in a wind storm as I haven’t a clue about six nations and know little of the game rugby. It sounds like they need a better Public Relations marketing strategy. Americans barely notice the World Cup so there isn’t much hope for it though. I think of rugby as an Australian game.

Both. Rugby was for fun with friends. “Soccer” was in high school along with others. I was into UK premier league football for a long long while. Watched less and less in recent years.

I used to play both rugby and American football with the same group of friends, around high-school and college days... when most of them were still fit lmao

after that, many of them switched to less active lifestyles... so since then, and still these days I mostly play football (or soccer) with friends and colleagues, and whoever we find on the fields

as for TV... last I remember following was that epic run that Leicester had going for them, was that 2016? feels like forever ago, lol
