How important is it how another country like Germany, a US ally and economic partner, feels about the United States?

Other countries have used the US as a piggle bank since the end of WW2. Our politicians made it possible for millions of American jobs to be shipped overseas. The middle class has been decimated. Recently Biden opened the borders to every indigent, uneducated criminal that all the other countries do not want. They have all washed up here and are being supported by American taxpayers.

Now we have a President that is putting America First and foreign countries do not like it. Their economies will be effected by tariffs and billions in foreign aid is being cut. Their gravy train is coming to an end.

The US was a laughing stock while Biden was stumbling from one disaster to the next. Foreign countries liked the fact that they could screw the US and as long as the Big Guy got his 10% it was okay.

It is better to be respected like we are now. These countries have been put on notice and they are scrambling to make trade deals with President Trump. They know he is serious.

But what you DIDN'T say is why - which is simply because that's what the Big Corporations PAID them to do. Politicians are for the most part nothing more than paid corporate puppets. You want to know who, just look at their individual net worths.

The middle class has been decimated because of Reagan's policies. Trickle-down economics was the grift of the 80's, just like you're getting grifted now. When Reagan was told "we're in danger of having an educated proletariat", he flipped education costs for colleges off the tax rolls and onto the students, hence creating predatory loans. I don't expect you to accept that fact.

Clinton was the only President to leave office with a surplus. Dubya spent that and more on a bullshit "war" and was the laughingstock of the world when he was in office. Until Trump, he was the most protested world President worldwide in US history. Now the rest of the world just shakes their head in disbelief that people could be stupid enough to have "elected" (maybe) Trump. Everyone knows this around the world, except you.

The world recognizes US military might, and that's the only leverage Trump has. Without that, he would be laughed out the world forum and told directly to his face what he is by the world's leaders. But at the same time, they also know he's insane, so they're careful. Don't think for one nanosecond they respect him.

As for trade, the world has been busy realigning its trading partners, or do you just believe what you hear on Fox or from Cheetoh? Trump has destroyed all the respect Obama's intelligence brought to the administration, and it will take decades to repair. You are living in a cult bubble. There is zero respect around the world for your hero, at least not from anyone with a functional brain.

Well, as someone who’s a citizen of the US and Germany, obviously I want to see good relations between the two countries. However, if Germany insists on continuing its now-decades-long defamation of the US, we have to ask why we are defending them and they’re expecting us to defend them (even with increased German defense spending, this is the case). A pivot to Asia is long overdue anyway.

I take Germans’ opinions on a lot of things with a grain of salt, much like you wouldn’t let your 10 year old decide how you’re going to lead your family. If Germany becomes a normal country rather than a dependency, it may see things a bit differently.

I think the general consus is Americans have switched from being brash but harmless to dangerous. There's a famous video of Boris Johnson clobbering a small child during a rugby match and thats how were starting to see America's relationship with everyone else, a fat Boris steamrolling kids just for a win.

To put into perspective there was talk of the USA putting one of its space bases near me and a nuclear submarine base, a few years ago it would have been welcomed with open arms, now people are frightened those weapons will be turned on us.

It is very important - especially now. Take Canada for instance. They have a covert boycott against the United States and they are hurting America's economy by refusing to vacation in the U. S., or buy things from the U. S.

This all started with Trump's tarrifs.

Well for starters we are no longer buying products from the United States here in Canada, we are trying to support more local Canadian businesses.

The view from here in Canada is the same. To be clear, Canadians for the most part like Americans but for now we want to distance ourselves from the US and we will probably go back to being friends in 3 1/2 years.
