I'm pretty convinced that all this woke stuff isn't that bad. We're not offending anyone so much as worrying if other people will think its offensive. No one is getting canceled who didn't deserve it.
We're just pent up for our own vain reasons.

I don’t think it’s oversensitivity driving it. You could probably make a broad argument that humans are just currently lacking in some emotional resilience as compared to previous generations, but at the same time, maybe there’s something to be said for having a little more understanding of and accommodation for human emotion. Emotion drives humans FAR MORE than logic does, as much as we try to keep some logic involved, but you also can’t move through life like it’s all about logic, because that’s just clearly not who we are as beings.
Anyway, that aside…. the whole “woke” idea’s definition is kind of being mischaracterized by its opponents. If your take on it includes words and phrases like “brainwashing”, “indoctrination”, “anti-white”, “anti-American”…. holy fuck, guy/lady, are you ever “doing it wrong.” Just completely missing the point, or someone misinformed or operating in bad faith has in turn misinformed you.
I’d say that we first need to establish a basic life principle of “exclusion = bad; inclusion = good.” I don’t even want to know a person who would disagree with that, because…. well …holy fuck, what in the world is wrong in your hateful heart that you DON’T agree with that? Like it’s simply not cool to be judgmental of others who aren’t doing anything that doesn’t directly and willfully impact others in a negative way, I don’t think that’s really debatable.
“Woke”, as it pertains to me, as a white dude, that just means listening and understanding, not rejecting what I’m being explained from people with firsthand experiences, and just genuinely —and I mean GENUINELY— accepting everyone as a truly equal member of society. I think white people are very accustomed to having the final word. Like black folks had to collectively ASK FOR civil rights FROM white people. White people (with varying degrees of enthusiasm), just ALLOWED it. And I feel like that’s the overall tone that followed for the 50-some years. Like things can happen for minority groups (and women), but it’s gotta be stamped by The Straight White Guy Committee.
I went to see Aziz Ansari’s comedy show a few years back, and he was talking about the whole thing with The Simpsons and the Apu character being retired or altered, or something like that, and the issue that a white guy was doing his voice when they could’ve at least gotten an actual Indian voice actor, etc, etc. The thing he said that struck me was, “People said ‘Why the fuss NOW, after 30 years when no one cared?’ And the answer to that is ‘We DID care 30 years ago. We just didn’t have a voice until now.”
And I guess that’s what needs to be considered by white people. Almost everything has been made for us, by us (white-FUBU lmfao), like forever. So the jokes and perceived norms of life and all that that we see in media (and just in real life society), it’s all been tailored to the straight [probably Christian] white man first, the straight [probably Christian] white woman second (how distant of a “second” increases the farther back you go). Everyone else could either love it or kick rocks. Then you get these “where’s BET for white people?” idiots when a specifically non-white medium pops up, lmfao. “What the fuck is this TELEMUNDO garbage? This is AMERICA!!!” Can’t fuckin’ win, lmao.
I’m gonna get on about my Saturday afternoon rather than type 1,500 rambling words on GAG, so I’ll leave some stones unturned here. But the overall point is “woke” (I don’t think proponents even call it that lmfao, feels like something that nerd Tucker Carlson would say🤓) is about awareness, empathy, and acceptance. Most black folks I know are fucking exhausted from trying to teach white people shit, lmao, believe me, I don’t think anyone relishes even having to go through this process. I’d assume other demographics are similarly tired of it. Honestly unbelievable that we can’t all just live alongside one another without all this ignorance and hatred and holding of misconceptions. But to your initial question, I wouldn’t ever accuse anyone demanding truly equal treatment in society as over-sensitive. Most of the sensitivity I see is the people complaining about those demands😂
Truth is 9/11 brought in the idiots like Tucker Carlson and his brainfart puppet Sean Hannity
"Woke" culture is edging towards totalitarianism in the way it seeks to not only control the content of the media we see but also wants to penalise freedom of thought, expression and speech.
If I'm talking to one person I can be fairly sure I won't offend them with my language because I rarely have a conversation with people I don't have most of my vocabulary in common with.
If, alternatively, I'm talking to a room full of people it's impossible for me not to offend at least 1% if people as some of them will be offended simply by my existence. And that's before I say a word - these people come simply to challenge my ideas, not to actually listen to what I'm saying.
America's society is tearing itself apart at the moment. The civil war may have moved off literal battlefields but the mentality of racial inequality and the basic beliefs that sparked the actual fighting between the Union and Confederate States never actually went away, it's just that the North refused to allow the South to be a separate nation - despite in 1776 the colonies having done exactly that from Britain.
In 250 years the USA - an infant in its societal development - has grown to a pseudo-united country that actually consists of 50 member states with similar but differing legal systems overseen by a federal system that provides a kind of "Big Brother" oversight. The more densely populated states seem to be mainly Democratic in representation and the more rural/farming states lean more towards Republican at the moment. 150 years ago it was the other way round.
The problem is that the country is in no way unified. If it were you wouldn't have different sentences for the same crime depending where it's committed and who it's committed against (state or federal). That's not justice. A Black man in Texas is far more likely to be arrested based on circumstantial evidence and executed than for the same felony in California and would only face execution in almost half the "country" if it gets booted to federal level.
I know you're going to argue I'm "off topic", but am I really? When Mark Twain and JRR Tolkien books are being banned in schools in some states because of the potential to cause "offense" and Orwell's 1984 has been banned for some time, thereby eliminating the dystopian warning Orwell was warning about with the Ministry of Thought "correcting" how citizens are permitted to exist because it causes offense there's something about it that stinks.
No one is being cancelled who didn't deserve it? Who decides who deserves it?
Ah the fickle public, well many are not public figures still get cancelled... who decides for them?
I just hate when someone makes one stupid mistake and now they are expected to be homeless the rest of their life. People should be more forgiving... especially when the mistake was not physical, just some stupid person yelling dumb stuff.
Isn’t it just learned behavior to automatically think/assume the worst?

I think people are steadily becoming more weak. People being overly sensitive is very much part of it. The truth of it is that in one way or another everyone is a victim of life. Because we don't have control over a lot and at any point life can drop a mountain in front of you or on top of you. You can sit around and play the victim. Blame everything on everyone and everything for your problems. But a lot of times the only way forward to to put the blame onto that person you see in the mirror. So whenever life drops a mountain in your path, cut the crap and start climbing. If your decisions created that mountain, take ownership and start climbing.
Because the only directions worth traveling is up and forward. Sitting around being offended by something is like watching a toddler throw a fit because they got told it was time to take a nap. The fact that you see so many adults do this en masse is pathetic. It's also sad that many people only stand up for something in a group rather then by themselves. Because they are too weak to stand by themselves.
The truth is the woke stuff is complete nonsense, as it beatifies a tiny percentage of abnormal people at the expense of the vast majority of normal heterosexual people.
What is true is that any people who genuinely feel uncomfortable in the body they were born with have severe emotional and psychological challenges to face up to which is deserving of support.
What's also true is that attitudes of the 1700s are no longer the attitudes of the 21st century, but that doesn't mean that white men born after 1980 are responsible for any of that history. They aren't and if women, blacks and other victim minorities can't accept it, then they need confronting in fairly terse manners.
Wokeness is destroying society and common sense. It's indoctrinating people steering them away from natural reality that has existed since the first humans on earth. It's very dangerous and is raising a generation of broken people who will do even more harm if this is not stopped or at least minimized to an unnoticeable extent.
It's a good thing that more people are pushing back against it because things are getting out of control. Normal people are stepping up to the plate ready to defend the country and the normal people that still exist 💪
America's history has always been one of genocide, racism and slavery.
So called "woke" has become a negative in this day and age. It was a positive, and meant you were aware of the pernicious apartheid and pro-White policies being applied.
These days it's become diluted to mere "conspiracy," when in fact a lot of what happened back then has been officially documented, but never compensated or apologised for. Even today things like Operation LAC will target Black or minority areas.
Here are a couple of people who got canceled (lost their jobs) that didn't deserve it because they undermined woke attitudes.

Sure…but could also say they both actually skipped happily into the above tax bracket after becoming infamous.
I remember shor. He worked for a Dem think tank and tweeted something that he was prob told not to. I agreed with the tweet about the riots but thats like us tweeting hate for our employers.
While it's true that people get offended by the slightest thing. I try to make sure they are as offended as I am, when they try to force me to feel something that I don't want to.
I can treat you with respect without accepting you.
If you are offended by this, I can do a better job of offending you.
Remember that in the most offended war, you will always be more offended. I guarantee
I live in America & think anyone who whines should spend time, as I did, around drug addicts in recovery, although not being one myself, it lends perspective they have to go through what you do, or far worse AND stay clean from something fighting to destroy their life & everything they work for at eveery moment - I think many people are just spoiled.
I think women getting sexually assaulted should be treated with severity. So no. But yeah some women need to pay attention to how they interact with men, understanding and predicting predatory behaviour, can rule out the potential for an assault to occur.
It's just for snowflakes really. Normal people of both genders whether black or white or Indians don't give a shit
You asked two questions so I'm not sure how to answer the poll. But yes, Americans are way too sensitive.
As far as cancelling, all that is is people serving as judge and jury with no due process, which is a bad thing for obvious reasons.
There is nothing good about woke /cancel culture.
Nothing good comes from being woke and crying about something they don't understand. As one person once said. "Everything woke turns to shit." And that person is right.
no. they are overly sensitive to the stupid nonsense that a tiny, easily offended minority thinks. i'm not talking about an ethnic or gender minority. i'm talking about a minority of opinion and mental condition.
and i think the prime goal shouldn't be "not to offend". the prime goal should be "finding what's good and right". and if that means you have to offend someone, then so be it.
I voted B but I meant to vote A.
We need to expand free speech rights and tell people to suck it up when they're insulted. Words are not violence.
No one is losing their livelihoods who didn’t deserve it. Screw them for not being just like us.
Yes, especially when they invade other countries for thinking bad about them.
You can't erase or rewrite the past no matter what book, name, or statue is removed. It will always be there
yeah, a lot us have become approval seekers and hungry for brownie points lately
Actually most of america isn't sensitive, and yes, a lot of weight is given to the moral parasites.
A LOT of people who don't deserve it are getting cancelled.
Yes, but it's the ones who claim everyone else is easily offended who are the most sensitive and start about 90% of shit.
